I have tried to have Knowledge Performance to get it for me. They sent my ECU out for a week and a half and was told Hondata needed more equipment to get it done. They needed some harness or something. I am about to give up. That was over 2 months ago.

The vehicle has been available to them for nearly 4 years, clearly their engineers cannot get any acceptable performance increases for the N/A setup, or they just do not think the market is there to spend the R&D when there are so many other vehicles with larger money making potential. But just whatever you do do not call and disturb them ...oohhh they may get testy and turn there backs on us! lol what a crock!

I have a couple of questions regarding this:

a) Are they the only supplier for this type of re-flash/ECU modification?
b) Has the TL engine ever type ever been "re-flashed" by someone with any amounts of success?
c) given that they have not come out with a product, does that not lead to the thought that perhaps their is nothing more to gain from these engine?

just some random (probalby useless) questions...

Here are my thoughts on your questions....

A. I did a search on here a while back. I believe there are some other companies but most people say they are crap. I haven't seen a thread with before and after dyno runs yet.

B. Even if they couldn't "reflash" the ECU, the could create a piggyback device to mimic the ECU so technically this wouldn't be a problem.

C. I would assume your correct. We have to remember that Honda/Acura has . extremely good R&D. Their horsepower to liter ratio is usually much greater than other manufacturers. I doubt they leave much horsepower untapped. (ex: The RSX-S is a 2.0L and gets 200hp. Thats a 100hp/liter which is rarely found in other manufactures except for Ferrari, Porsche, etc).

Companies like to do chips on turbocharged cars. The gains are usually very substantial.... like 40-50hp. Nautrally Aspirated cars such as the TL would have much lower gains, probally 10-15hp. Higher gains means more people interested and more business.

Anyways, thats just my thoughts... I would love it if a company proved me wrong though and released a chip that gave you 30 whp or something.

Isnt there a TL that did a 24 hour event. I thought they had a modded ECU... Higher revs and a soft rev-limiter.

But this was done by Acura. Not Hondata.

^^yeah so this is going to sound retarded but my CEL was on, and code was indicating i was running too rich and i was too busy to go get it checked out but in the mean time i got a custom intake fabricated to replace my AEM w/ a plastic sleeve. so IMMEDIATELY i notice more power, no more hesitated starts, etc.

so i think what happened was that there was an air leak in my old intake bc of my crappy plastic sleeve and my engine/charger wasn't getting the proper intake it needed. so for now my car is driving better and my CEL is off. I'll have to wait a couple days just to make sure everything else is honky dory with my car since i just got this yesterday.

oh, and if there are other SC'd ppl out there who want an CAI for their charger, i could possibly do a group buy if there is interest, i'll post details.

I'm interested, post some pics when you get a chance. Can you relocate the IAT sensor with this intake?
