Never heard of anyone doing this..... Not in a TL anyway....

 

It would be awesome to have. You'd feel like a fighter pilot while driving. Some car has it, but I can't remember which one.

 

M5/M6 has a HUD, so does the new Lexus RX SUV I believe.

It is definitely very cool, I wouldn't do an aftermarket one on the TL though. I would imagine it'd be very difficult to link it to your engine/nav so that it would show relevant information.

I believe on the M5, it shows the tach, current speed, and the current gear the car is in.

The Lexus I believe added a new feature where the HUD links with your nav and tells you if a turn is coming up.

 

BMW's slowly continuing to advance theirs on the M models, & I believe Chevrolet has a HUD setup for the Z06.

 

The tl has a mid, which keeps track of maintenanc and all the other pertinent things to do with tpms sensors and what not

A hud display would prove pointless unless you've modified the car to the extreme

 

But, isn't BMW, Lexus also has MID along with HUD?

I believe BMW's HUD also has gear, revolution, speed and nav direction.

I saw Lexus new RX's demo and has speed and nav direction.

I don't think a nav direction HUD could be put into the TL.

But, speed and revolution would be cool to add, don't you guys think so?

 

Friend has it on his 550i, definitely SICK.

I would love to do it, but i wouldn't.
But if you wanna do it, have fun cutting up the top of the dash

 

The Z06 one has a Tach, speedo reading and sideways g-force reading

That g reading would be prety cool

 

yea the new RX does have it.... sickest one out imo so far
think it would be a lil much for the Tl though being that everything is in the instrument panel

Ever since 2000 the corvette has had the hud. And I think the nissan 240zx had it too. The thing is that these kinds of cars have a reflective film in the windshield for the hud to reflect off of. Making the windshield expensive to replace.

Or this...same brand. This one looks nicer though. I don't know if the price is good though. It's neat cause you can set a shift light at whatever rpm you want and can the tach at the same time as the speedo.

 

IF you want an aftermarket hud that only does speedo and tach and some other parameters DEFI makes a unit. Its nice for road coursing since you can keep an eye if someones decides to spin out in front of you and gives you time to react.

 

GM has had it for years. Mid to late 90's T/A's, Corvettes and Grand Prix GTP's had it.

If you have an 3G iphone, there are HUD apps in the App Store that use GPS. You place the phone up on the dash and it's supposed to display the info. The reviews are mixed.
