Header wrap PCD's over kill?
here u will see the version 3 pcd. i had it ceramic coated at a local shop that was very good at what they do. the shop suggested i go with a high temp black paint. i got it done for $85 that was priced match with richie's price. i wanted to wrap this up to protect the wiring and hoses from melting. i dont want to overheat the fluids, and stress out the wire looms, and shorten the life of the rubber hoses. i did the whole shabang. i know the suface temp will reduce by 25% cooler and itll stay looking brand new. i know this will void my warranty but i dont care because this is my 2nd set on the warranty. i probaly wont have another warranty. im pretty sure it wont crack because of the super solid welds and the high quality. but for $350 its chump change soo lets get ballsy
. here r some pictures . give me your thoughts and experience with ceramic wrapped ceramic coated pcds..

i had the v3 hfpc. it was stored in my tool box collecting dust. i did the unthinkable and refunded this at the last minute that i regret. i will get this someday because it keeps my car a daily driver.i miss looking at it. when i get this again, i know a guy that can make a heat shield for me. he uses stainless blankets. visual inspection=PASS![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

i havent found the right clamps for the top part of the pcd. its bell shape. im looking for oval clamps. the stainless ties is junk. i did some surface tempature testing and found the ceramic coated suface was about 550-600 degrees hot and the wrap side was 250-340 degree hot. all test was done with a infared gun. i think the tempature dropped about 30-40 degree with the ceramic coat. nothing big

My wrapping job.
RV6 PCD's ceramic coated, 3 layers DEI black wrap and DEI SS locking ties.
No issues after 8 months installed.
May be useless. I did't test temperature insulation before and after.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

^I like that; that looks solid!
I'm about to do the same thing. I've only heard of one issue using heatwrap and that is the potential for fire if somehow the wrap gets soaked in oil, PSF, ATF, etc. DEI sells some silicone spray that seals in the wrap, but I'm just going to wrap aluminum foil around mine. I thought about using aluminum tape, but it can't withstand the same temps as foil itself.

I always thought Dave was an additional account of a long time member, who used the kkd account to troll when he was having a bad day. I can't believe anyone responds to him, when he clearly has a loose grip on everything from the English language to how cars work.
