Ground Kit

I believe there are many people who have already grounded their TLs. Would these people please show some pics under the hood? And if possible, specify where they have grounded (pics help a lot.) I would like to ground mine but I believe there are more places I can possibly ground.

Does a grounded TL have big difference in performance?

Thanks in advance.

what do you mean by grounded? when i hear that i think of those silly strips that ricers hang off the back of the car that touch the ground.

Ummm.... I am talking about grounding wires. If you search "grounding wires" in ebay, hundreds of them show up. They claim to increase a little bit of troque, horsepower and throttle response etc. I often see 8~10 wires per kit so I think there are more places I may ground.

its basically your own preference, theres a whole science to it, for the static electricity and energy the car builds up while driving it causes friction, so the grounding wires would let out the electrons and protons, correct me if im wrong, but i think u can spend ur money more wisely

apparently the grounding wires by themselves don't do jack. you'll need to get the voltage stabilizer as well to see good gains. look at the jdm/ hot inazma products offered through sunautomobile.com to find a dealer close to you. the hot inazma is the japanese version (instructions in japanese) and the hyper voltage gt is the usa version due out in about a month. same units but gt version has instructions in english.

if it's good enough to put in an acura tl in "honda tuning" magazine and show respectable gains with intake and exhaust, i say go for it.

Actually, I have a voltage stabilizer sitting on my desk right now. It is more like I am waiting for some pics and I'll do it. Oh well, maybe I will just ground those i know then.

here is a good article from hondatuningmagazine.com

they installed the hyperground kit, comptech exhaust, and injen intake. they even dyno'd before and after these upgrades.

I installed a DIY ground kit. I will say the car idles much more smoothly and the throttle response is better. I always had a problem w/ my 6MT almost stalling when pulling out in 1st gear, however, after grounding, the car doesn't hesitate in first. I spent $40 for the kit which I made my self.

Nice. That's why I want to do it. I have heard many people saying the benifits of installing ground kit. The ground kit I have now is also a DIY. I made it from 4 gauge audio wires. I would really love to see how you installed the kit under the hood! Please post some pics if possible. Thanks so much.

I can see upgrading the grounds in an older car or a highly modified car, but not a stock TL. I made some custom grounds for my 98 Firebird but I am running two Bosch 420L fuel pumps on the car to support 754rwhp.

Doesn't mean jack because they dynoed the car after installing ALL the mods.

Have you noticed any [non-psychological] power gains with that voltage kit?

Nicely put, non-psychological gains comes with spending a fair amount.

New car grounds suck!

I work as a professional installer, and have been for 8 years. By no means should you think that a factory ground is good. Honda/Acura both use about a 8 gauge wire to ground out the car to the battery and the same for the wire that runs from the battery to the alternator. I have not installed my grounding kit for the car yet, but I do have it grounded with a piece of 1/0. It does make a difference. If you have car stereo equipment, it can make a huge difference in the perfomance. You are alqays limited to the smallest wire in your system for power. Also, the battery is very important to the car for filtering out imperfections that are produced my the alternator and the car itself. Normally these do not show up as bad, unless you have aftermarket stereo equipment. Another thing you can do to help it is to run a larger wire from the alternator to the battery.

I couldn't possibly imagine being able to feel a difference in power with a voltage stabilizer. You might feel a smoother idle but I can't imagine much else.

What are we talking 5hp?
