Got my new XLR8 exhaust

well after doing some reviews on this site and listening to youtube sound clips I ended up purchasing a XLR8 cat back exhaust system. I got the resonated version. I got the system in about a week it all looks quality and well built. I took it over to a friends shop that has a lift which made the install 100% easier. With the lift it only took about 30 minutes to take off the old and put on the new.

I must say the tips look sweet even better than stock and the sound is ridiculous! My younger brother even said it sounded "Lambo like" which it kinda of does when hitting the upper end.

It was a toss up between this exhaust and the ATLP but since ATLP stopped making the quads it was a no brainer the XLR8 exhaust was well worth the $$

I will see if I can post a sound clip soon along with some pics.

Talking

Thanks guys... Josh was very helpful during the purchasing process... I emailed him various times to make sure I was getting what I was expecting and it really does sound good.

I am going to take some vid's hopefully later today or tomorrow for sure by this weekend since we have a long weekend and I will have some time on my hands..

You can find the pricing on the excelerate website it was close to $1G actually a little more with freight to cali but I had been saving up and doing some sneaking around on this site and decided to go with this. The quality is great deffinately not a cheesily made exhaust.

now i gota lower my car and get some 19"s

oh yea post the lambo sound clip i see those from time to time being out here by all those rich people in B Hills they sound sweet!

Thanks guys yeah im glad I got them first real mod to my car besides the cross drilled windows some LED lighting and light tint on the head and tail lights...

I was thinking of getting the J-Pipe I really cant do the pre cats or the main cat as I live in Cali and its a pain out here! I have a K&N but am deffinately looking at doing the CAI system as well.

ACE32TL... you're right I got to do that I still have not heard from others point of view being on the outside I am going to ask someone to drive it asap...

dave_ramkumar... I hear yah I was actually thinking of painting them flat black I still might depends as I want to black out the front grille and the chrome back by the license plate as well as getting black rims. I think you should be able to do it easily enough.

Not the dual tips. You have to have S bumper for dual.

If you are good at a dremel, you can do some creative cutting to produce the larger openings on a base bumper and/or A-spec bumper piece, but beware... A botched job will certainly ruin your day.

Cant say that i like it as much as the ATLP, but then again they dont make that exhaust anymore so why not go with the second best exhaust. I like the look but does it have the nice growl to it in person like the ATLP?

We have an exhaust for the base TL and the TL-S. You can fit the TL-S exhaust on the base TL but you will have to modify the rear bumper.

The XLR8 exhaust has a deep, throaty note and with the new PRT technology the issue of drone that is common to most TL exhausts, including our own in the past, will be taken care of.

Good to hear. Im in between buying a used ATLP and getting a new XLR8. Time, and money will tell the difference.

Not trying to be a dick but what is the cost to hp ratio here? $100~1 hp? It does look good and probably sounds good but it just seems like a lot of money for bling.

Folks get aftermarket exhaust systems for the bling and primarily for the sound.

PRT is Purge Resonance Technology. This technology includes a new combination of muffler packing and sound cancellation. Using both methods (packing and sound cancellation) results in virtually no drone and a deep throaty sound in our exhaust systems. The packing is also two-part: it uses stainless steel mesh wrapped by a specially engineered ceramic weave. This ensures a deep sound and a life time product.

The industry average is 1 hp per $100. Our exhausts are good for 10 whp and 10 wtq but on the TL-S we saw some serious low end torque gains. If someone is looking for every bit of power and they want the better material, sound, and look then they opt for the exhaust.

Yes we offer resonated exhaust systems. Our exhausts have similar gains to the ATLP.
