going to track for first time..

I need some advice.. what NOT to do or what to do.. this is my first track experience at all and well I don't wanna crash.. I have a bone stock tl except for a system.. I don't plan on going crazy. but i figured you guys would know alot better than I what to expect.

BTW I was invited by a car dealer here cause i am looking to buy a new Lotus Elise and they are letting me test drive it on the track. I can also test drive MY car there so I figured I would.

Any advice is much appreciated

thanks

Clear everything you can out of your car.. trunk.. spare tire.. and have at the most 1/4th of a tank of gas as GAS is very heavy.. tire pressure should be at least recommended specs.. I'd go 4-5 PSI higher.. but probably stick to specs..

If it gets loose don't power out or slam on the brakes, act more like you are driving on ice.

If it is your first time to the track, TAKE IT SLOW!!!! Do EXACTLY what the instructor says. Also, keep some gas in your tank, not 1/4 tank like mentioned above. You go through gas quickly when you are WOT almost all the time. If the sessions are short, you can get away with little gas, but usually there isnot a filling station there (unless you want 100+ octane...$$$$). I would give yourself AT LEAST 1/2 tank to make it on the safe side considering you aren't going balls to the wall. Bring enough tools to be able to change your brake pads if the course is going to be very high speed with a lot a harsh braking. Bring an extra set of brake pads with you just in case. Bring a floor jack (or at least the scissor jack) with you. You may want to pull off one of the front wheels during the lunch break to make sure you pads are holding up. Also, bring some extra brake fluid with you.

Most of all, be careful, you don't want to be bringing your car home on a trailer!!!!

Good luck, have fun, use your head, report back with your experiances!!

Ok so I went there with all these expectations of everyone just dusting me.. not that bad.. First time around I was pretty scared and basically didn't get on her.. I just eased into things.. I was around the track, which was a road course not a circle going prety decent.. the second time around not too bad.. a little faster.. the third time a little faster stilll.... That was enough for me... just 3 laps yeah I know.. well it was free and actually the REAL reason I went there was I was going to test drive a new Lotus Elise to see if I want one..

I WANT ONE.... Might get it in December... keep the Acura as the daily driver and man.. that Lotus is one fast ass car in the turns... it hugs the road like nohting i have ever been in.. I have been in some pretty sweet rides.. including a c06 vette and some other hghly modified rides...

But the Acura was OK.. Mine is stock.. so it rolled ALOT but with the rear sway, some new rims and tires and a drop I think I would be OK...

I also didn't push it.. cause I have no clue on the track.. but I AM going to a track day there for $300 for the day for school training (2 hours) instructor lead racing (2 hours) and then all day in a STOCK CAR balls to the wall...
Can't wait..
