Getting started
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum although I have been reading on here for around 5 months. I'm just beginning to build my tl and wanted to get some feedback on if I'm headed in the right direction. I have a 04 tl 6 speed non navi. I'm looking to build it as a street strip daily driven car while keeping all of the features the car has to offer. I'm not sure how possible that is because I know weight is a huge killer for our cars.
As of right now I only have the intake resonator removed and a terrible custom exhaust. My plan is to get the j and r ecu, completely redo the exhaust ( hfpc jpipe and looking at the custom 3 inch) but I'm afraid of it being too loud. The 3.7 manifold and tb with the air raid ubi 4 inch cold air.
Any feedback will be awesome and thanks to everyone for the information that I've already found.

sounds like a good start. Good luck with a J&R ECU at this point. And don't waste your time and money on TB spacers or even the IM spacer if you're planning a 3.7L IM. Go with RV6 for all your exhaust stuff.
I know I am very late to the scene. I forgot to mention the underdrive pulley. And I'm wondering if anyone has the lightweight flywheel because i was told to stay away from them for balancing reasons. My clutch is on its way out so I'm looking at the replacement options.

No complaints here, did have some slight chatter during break in but have none now. I drive it daily and love it but for some it would be to much. This clutch isn't needed in most cases, the stock clutch can handle a lot.
Stage 3 clutch is a big commitment for most people. It is a lot more difficult to driver, does give some chatter, but grabs very well. Its miserable in traffic so if you do a lot of city driving, unless you need it I would stay away. However if you plan to build it later down the road, plan ahead and do it.
I don't have extensive drive time with a stage three clutch but I can tell you from the short amount of time that I've driven it, it felt no different than stock in terms of comfort and street-ability.
