Fuel Computer

How accurate is the fuel computer? It shows pretty good but when I calculated manually at fill ups....I am not getting as good. So I just wonder is the computer accurate?

You mean the MID? You realize there are tons of fuel threads if that is what you are referring to............search my friend either google or the forums search function.

Obviously, a manual calculation is going to be accurate (miles traveled divided by gallons of gas used), especially over multiple fill-ups. I keep track of my mileage by writing down the odometer reading on my sales receipt at each fill-up and then entering this and the gallons bought into a spreadsheet.

A few percent. It's a close estimation.

Sigh

Its very accurate and again there are threads on the gas mileage which some of these questions were already ask. TBH, you are just going to be splitting hairs on this; as long as it is maintain properly then you are good to go.

Well, I would like to hear from posters and not some thread dead and buried long ago. The reason for my post is that there is a pretty good difference in my calculations and what the trip computer says. Hence the reason for the thread. I would not have ask if it was 1-2 MPG!

If it's more than 1-2 mpg, then either you're calculating incorrectly or there's something wrong with your MID.
