Exhaust upgrade complete, will CAI help?

so i have been putting off getting a CAI for a long time because i understand they don't provide much worth and that the j-pipe is a better bang for the buck (it def is). well now i have been running an exhaust system with an upgraded j-pipe and res. quad exhaust (both xlr8)...and now i'm wondering if getting a CAI is more applicable.

now that i got the good buys out of the way, would the CAI provide any value since the post engine side is opened up some? i understand the stock intake is pretty good but was just curious what the opinions are if i have the post engine side opened up now.

if i did go that route i would only look at the AEM V2 with a hydrolock shield for peace of mind (even though I live in SoCal)

i searched for any threads asking for opinions after upgrading the exhaust but just saw the usual 400 threads saying the j-pipe should be purchased first thanks for any input

^i have done the rv6 v3 pcds and v3 jpipe.
I have kept the OEM cold air intake system, but I will be receiving some mods in the mail this week.

Ported and Polished intake manifold, runners, and bored throttle body.
after these mods, I think I would need more air flow. I'm contemplating on whether or not to purchase a CAI or just re-routing my existing OEM hardware.

The only true way to tell if you need an intake, is if you measure CFM's of air flow.

^ Agree

Aftermarket CAI has less air flow restriction, plus its lighter than our stock intakes. If you want some serious air flow, do what justin is doing.

BTW justin you said you bought these? From which web?

^i bought the PnP manifold, runners, and bored throttle body from a member on acurazine.

btw, sock......
with just OEM cold air intake, V3 PCDs and V3 jpipe, I pulled on EvilVirus and his Cold air intake, HFCs, jpipe and custom exhaust.

I was to scared to look behind me to see how far behind you were, how many car lengths did I pull, Evil?

Here's my input. Your next mod on the list should be an engine management (JnR Ecu). Then get the car tuned with the CAI that will fully benefit your mods altogether. Your stock ecu will be lean with the cai without a management to keep it in check.

At first it was like 5 was too scared to shift higher than 6k since my clutch starts to slip bad.

Though when I did shift perfectly all I can see was your headlights by my door and me creeping away.

BTW not custom exhaust, XLR8 baby.

I have the J&R ecu on order.

Yeah I am and have it built for boost. Hopefully this summer. If not I will wait until I install all of the other parts sitting in my room. However, I do want to finish the aesthetic first.

When are you doing it? Saturday or Sunday? Sunday is the ATB. If Saturday, I might be able to lend a hand though I have to finish my projects for my classes first. Let me know.
