Exhaust setup that will gargle

Hey all,

My friend just deleted his muffler on his 335i. I love the gargling sound that he has now.....when he downshifts or comes to a slow stop the exhaust has a amazing gargling sound.

I was wondering what I can do to my TL to achieve a similar sound? I have the stage 3 muffler mod done (lol).

thanks

my brother has a 335i and did the muffler delete to. It sounds amazing. Is there anything we can do to get the sound of the twin turbos spooling up and the power to go with it? lol i wish though

gurgle only comes from turbo cars running no or very little mufflers

ummm.. no. this will occur on any car NA or FI.

the gurgle can be caused by unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust pipe during engine braking. removing a muffler or adding a larger exhaust pipe will make this sound more prominent.

i've heard of other things like exhaust turbulence and vaccuum changes causing it.

Stage 3 at least on my car makes idling sound a little more gurgle-ish, but I agree it'd be sweet for it to be more pronounced

i have that gargling sound with my custom exhaust setup, i am using spintech mufflers. flowmasters might do the same. but we warned, its way too loud even with a large resonator. these mufflers do not have any sound packing in them.

What exact mufflers do you have? I have only seen domestic cars running spintech mufflers....got a clip of it on the TL? Would love to hear it.

Our XLR8 exhaust has a deep, throaty somewhat exotic exhaust note that will gurgle on decel.

^This guys knows something. I have all of my mufflers deleted and I'm runnin the stock res. it gargles on rev match downshifts and light revs, like 1.5k. Believe or not this setup isnt as loud as you would think it is similiar to the unresonated ATLP base.

So you have all the mufflers (rear 2, and mid muffler) deleted and the stock resonator? How is the drone? How "loud" is it. Is it similar to some of the catbacks....or worse....is it anything like stage 4? Stage 4 is annoying and sounds like a broken tractor.

I hope you can take a video/chime in, because this is exactly what I want to do. I will keep my dynomax resonator though.

LOL

I'm far from that. I've got to get better at letting this stuff go.

From the clip that 04accordcpe posted, it looks like Comptech or maybe XLR8 might be the closest you will get.

It's been discussed quite a bit and to get the level of gurgle that a G35 puts out has not been possible.

My PCD's + XLR8 Non-res will gurgle on decel. It's easy to make it happen, just needs to have a light touch of the pedal so some fuel gets dumped into the cylinders.
