I've heard one TL with the qtp & it sounded really mean, almost formula 1 car sound. I wouldn't mind doing it myself.

after hearing the sound clip from hi speed I knew I had to get a cutout. Especially since the the turbo quiets down the exhaust note so much that i cant hear the rumble from my hks cans.

went with the 3" qtp setup after reading plenty of reviews online.

Does it really matter what brand you get?

I just finished my setup i only have one sound clip and it was hard to hold the camera at the same time! Mine is a 2.5 pipe with a 3in pipe coming off from summit racing, i am running the qtp 3in cutout and have no leaks.

pics are before i installed the cutout and removed the heatshield(there's plenty of room)

i went qtp based on reviews were people said they had it running for a few years. havent read any reviews of the cheaper ebay brands.

i mean, as long as the piping is stainless steel then thats fine no matter where you get it from. but the internal motor for the cutout may be of cheap china quality if you buy from ebay

also, it seems that if you use the qtp cutout, you need to use thier piping as well b/c the gasket and bolt hole are made specific for that brand

My secret racing switch. Only one large resonator before cutout, no cats.

The only way this should be done is if you are turbo or at least s/c. If you stock and dont even have PCD or a J-Pipe its just rice. All you have now is a loud slow ass car.

I really only open mine for an all out run or just for noise in traffic. The extra noise makes me think something is wrong since the car is pretty quiet with it closed. Wot sounds crappy in my opinion, but does add to full boost runs. It's most fun next to a loud V8 or to ensure someone that that you are worth the run. Almost any car that is a good run for a turbo TL wouldn't look twice at it, without some confirmation.
