i got my heads back from the machine shop and i got the lift specs for the cams

05 tl
low- .249
mid- .208
high- .249

07 tl-s
low- .251
mid- .208
high- .253

hope this helps. i couldn't get the duration of the cams. sorry. but judging from the looks of these numbers, the tl-s cams are a def plus.

ussi-

Take it back to the shop who did the install/machine work etc. They should fix it.
If they wont bring it to C&C auto the place I go to. They will fix it for you 100% with a fair price...
cool

it actually sounds alot like my calibers are rubbing... the noise is elevated and you can hear it speed up as my RPMs rise. could it be my cams? the noise is nonexistant when car is idleing...

i kept the same timing belt.

hard to tell the exact benefit since i did so many things at once, but everyone seems to agree that for a $100 they are worth it.

the thermoblocks are ok. i just got them 2 weeks ago. a lil more low end power. they say it makes the car better on hot days (heat soak), i think its better on cold days because it keeps the engine even cooler, when its already cool. cooling it down while its hot, doesnt do that much IMO.

worth $100... eh i guess. i just think we are all desperate to make our cars faster! lol

I didn't even to think to change the timing belt till you mentioned it actually...i'll look into the part numbers. I'm sure they are different because the cams and crank are different on the Type-S.

I haven't had a chance to take it in, I just put in a dynomax resonator because my car was just too loud, and after the ProCats I was getting a nasty rasp, sounds great now. I plan to take my car in to the mechanic tomorrow or wednesday, then dyno'd next week.

it'll make a difference, how much is really unknown without the duration spec. but i'm almost positive that it's all around a better camshaft. like ctr cams vs. gsr cams or even itr cams. ctrs are arguably the best camshaft for a dohc vtec. i'm confident i made the right choice with the tl-s cams...

Ok, so that noise i was talking about earlier which i was having trouble describing is coming from my blower...it sounds like one of the "screws" in the is either off balance of is making contact with the other "screw". I hope its not as what i make it sound like because my car is running great..boost is good etc.. but the sound is still coming from the blower...but i guess with comptech back in the picture...warranty??
Still don't know what the CEL is about but i hope its something stupid like the cats or something...

Not to hijack your thread, but thought this might interest you guys that are into the hp chase. I've been working on and will be for a while, a special motor. I'm at the head stage and will pick them up next week. In the meantime, the head shop that did the work has sent me a before and after flow chart. The heads now have a custom 1mm oversized intake and exhaust valves, Ferrea springs, bronze guides and are fully ported. Enjoy this expensive bit of info and please, no questions on "how much did it cost". If you have to ask, you quite possibly couldn't afford it. Any engineers care to chime in?

Keep us posted man, sorry to hear the blower is making the noise, but I suppose it could have been worse? I don't know I could be wrong...

I used the TLS cams. The shittiest thing happened..the day before i went to pick up my head from the shop, my palm 700 got stolen out of my rental. I was PIST and forgot to tell them flow comparison.
i really need to make time for a dyno, since i did so many mods simultaneously it will be hard to know which mod is really worth doing, but the dyno should give a better idea.
other than that the car drives great, i've just started to beat up on it a bit now that my belt problem is gone.

I was curious about your before and after numbers on the flow. these heads are peculiar. I'm picking up my heads tomorrow. They're different than yours as the exhaust manifold is cast into yours and not mine, other than that, they're basically the same. They replaced both intake and exhaust valves with a 1mm larger size, bronze guides, new seats, springs and retainers and port and polish. bummer about the palm.

so i have been seriously following this thread since the beginning.... and i need to do some work to my motor this month....

overall, i know you did alot at once, but do you feel a serious difference? are you confident is some really high #'s from this?? are you happy for the time and money you spent on this?

I have been thinking about getting the cams, port & polishing it. I figured if hondata or comptech officially release an ECU for us, some larger injectors and bored fuel rails will show some positive results....

i dont think we can wait any longer for you to get a dyno!!!

i've got $20 bucks on it, anybody else?? lol

i wish i had done it too. I assume my head flow numbers would be similar to yours since we did about the same to them, except my intake valves are stock, i really wish i had just changed them out also, its just the advice i got was it wouldn't make much of a difference, but seeing that they are larger on the new Type-S, I shoulda just forked over a lil more cash for them. Did you find oem valves that fit or did you get aftermarket ones?

If you have you're before an after numbers, please post em, i'd love to see what kind of increase you're getting.

haha ok ok, i'll call the shop and see when they have time.. i was just waiting on something

just paypal the $20 over

yeah, i DEFINITELY felt the difference. as big a difference as when i put on my blower, no way. But my car pulls really hard in high rpms, problem is i really lose traction in first and second at 6k rpms. I've just now started to really push my car cuz i was cautious when i initially got my car back, and belts kept tearing, now the fun begins.

once i get it to the dyno you can look at the dyno #'s and decide if its worth it. although your gains will be different on a N/A motor, but it will help you decide, just get a good mechanic that will do the head job for a good price.
