Engine Port & Polish, new Valves

Speaking about hollow camshafts, the difference is absolutely immeasurable. That hollow part has very small diameter, it is not much of difference in weight, especially compared to the rest of rotating parts and cams are twice slower than crankshaft.

well, since we are pissing in the guys Cheerios... I just thought of something.
I don't think the S cam has longer duration. It is a hard fact that a longer duration cam produces peak HP and peak torque at higher RPM than a cam with less duration. And, from the published specs for the TLS, it produces peak HP and peak torque at the same RPM as the regular J32 cam.

well, according to the 07 tl service manual (oem), between the j32 and the j35, the lobe heights are different. now i know we discussed this before, the profile largely depends on the duration and lift, but stating that it has different lobe height, its gonna be a different cam altogether. like it was also stated before, honda likes to interchange parts between platforms. so why would they (besides the fact that they're hollow) use an entirely different cam with different profiles (the duration and lift still unknown) in a car with basically the same engine (just bored or stroked) when the old cam is tried and true? oh and before the cams are installed, i'm gonna have the machine shop figure out the lift and duration for both the cams (type s and non) before they are installed. this will benefit us all because i don't think there is anyone doing a cam only install, so dyno testing after the few of us doing the cam install will be worthless for a baseline cam comparison. oh yeah, is there a v6 adjustable cam gear out there? i've done a few adj cam gears on stock cams, and they made a small, yet noticeable difference. (sohc and dohc applications)

well its two grand for the first initial set because they have to program the machine, and dial in all the specs. they would probably go through a couple chunks of billet before they get a final production ready peice. it's like we're paying for r&d. the peices that come out after that would probably be around 150-200 each

We should all pitch in for the cam gears, that would be a decent mod to do. Also I'm surprised you didn't port your Throttle Body Ussi, since you were messing with the heads, it would have been worth your while.

So if UR sold the cam gears for 150$ it would end up being $200 for the first 40 customers to make up for the $2000 r&d and then $150 for everyone else. Someone make a thread.
I didn't know UR was so close to me, I'll have to visit them one day.

well someone should go and find out. how much would it cost to make (x) amount of sets fo a certain price including the r&d. then we'd all split it evenly. we'd send the money directly to ur to build the pool up.

You guys are forgetting the cam and heads should be matched as a pair. If the heads are being ported, the cam will make a bigger differnence if it complements the heads. I would definately go with a bigger cam if I ported the heads. You also have to think about emissions. While bigger power can be made with more duration, it effects emissions much more than higher lift. Now on a larger displacement motor like the 3.5L you could get away with a proportionately longer duration without hurting emissions.
As for polishing or not polishing, these cars are fuel injected, not carbureted. Polish the hell out of the intake. You don't have to worry about fuel fallout like on carbureted motors. The fuel injectors are aimed right at the intake valves. Not only that but this is a 4 valve motor. You're going to have all the velocity and such that you need.
50-60hp is not out of the question NA and the gains will be larger for the already supercharged cars.
What's the point of cam gears on a stock motor? They allow adjustability. Why would you need to change the cam timing of a stock motor? If using aftermarket cams maybe but otherwise they're a complete waste of money. If you believe these work, go buy that tornado air thing while you're at it.
