im wondering if taking all of the engine covers helps or hurts the performance?? all of my engine covers have been off for a while but i am curious to know if that is bad for performance??

 

It makes no difference. Period.

 

okay, cuz i notice that the engine is much hotter than it was before when i pull the hood up!

 

^ Of course it is, the main purpose for engine covers is to prevent you from burning yourself, should you reach in there when the engine is hot, and also for aesthetics.

i thought some of the covers were meant to help direct cooler air to certain areas of the engine bay... as well as 'asthetics'..

 

Doesn't seem like it, there are no vents/ports/scoops that look like they would change the air flow's direction. I feel like it would trap hot air moreso than direct cool air in. Either way, on or off, won't make a diff with performance, especcially not anything noticable.

 

its so the engine looks clean. a simple wipe down of the covers and it looks mint.

 

or take them off to save one curb weight???
