Decibel Values of RV6, ATLP, and XLR8 Catback Exhausts?

Given stock pre-cats and j-pipes, which of the above exhaust brands (and their respective resonated/non-resonated products, if any) is the loudest, and which is the softest in terms of inside and outside volume?

Anyone know from experience or have empirical data for this?

That's interesting. I've read on here that XLR8 is marketed as being tame in low RPM (driving on local roads) and beastly at WOT.

I'm asking because I've heard a full RV6 setup in person and it's quite loud, and was curious as to how the other two brands compare sound-wise.

Does having a stock j-pipe as opposed to an aftermarket j-pipe reduce volume by much?

The xlr8 resonated exhaust is pretty loud, the resonator is almost the same size as the pipe haha. But it sounds great. When I went to all high flow cats I had to add a larger resonator to calm it down some more and it still sounds great.

Can't go wrong with any of them

the subjective part about this is that we all have different ears.
and our brains are all different.
so, we hear things different.

I really think my pre-cat deletes, rv6 jpipe and rv6 true dual set up is SUPER quiet compared to another buddy's XLR8 setup.

I have rv6 pcds, jpipe, atlp resonated quads. On cold start it was ear numbing loud until timing gets advanced. In cabin had lots of drone and was very annoying.

To resolve that issue, I bought
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/d...rtnumber=12640

to replace the factory atlp resonator that came with the exhaust. Made a world of difference, but than again a 6" round resonator is the biggest you can get to fit the TL. You will have problems with the resonator and certain bumps or road imperfections if you're 2.5"+ inch low though

I'm actually not too familiar with exhaust systems, where does that magnaflow piece go? If you replace it, does it require welding or just simple slide-to-fit with gaskets?

I really like the tone of the aftermarket exhausts and really hate the tone of the stock exhaust, but I think the aftermarket exhausts are a little too loud for daily commute.

After 3rd cat, usually to replace another resonator. The have to weld it in. Most shops will do it for like 50 bucks. I replaced my xlr8 resonator with a magnaflow one, but not as big as the one mentioned before. The one I bought is in my signature below

Sometimes recording exhaust do no justice because they are so loud or so close or that your recording sucks. best to hear it in person.

The CT-E and Tanabe exhausts are 93 db or less. Greddy was the loudest. XLR8 and ATLP are similar in decibel level but our exhaust sounds more exotic. Marcus did not a great video on the two. I haven't heard RV6's exhaust in person.
