DBW to Cable Conversion?

Instead of hijacking the Sprint booster thread, I figured I'd start a new one.

Are there any conversion kits for a 3G TL?

Would a conversion kit eliminate the cruise control function?

^ possible but not for the faint of heart.. the reason we have DBW is for stability control & cruise control.. you have to bypass those modules and then do the actual modding.

DBW is linked to everything, the before mentioned is just a few, it is also part of the ABS system that is used in conjunction with the stability control. It adjusts throttle accordingly during a problem. Eliminating the DBW would require some serious rework of the electronics system in the car as well as the safety features.

I totally forgot about stability control.....crap. I guess I'll just live with it as is. No way am I going to drop $300 for an amplifier (Sprint Booster).

Thanks

you'd literally have to convert the entire car to an 02 tl and prior...

What people have said...The good part about the cable setup is that we would be able to run a stand alone!

^ true yes... but a standalone in a car with so many features... mmmmh... that would cancel, abs, vsa, heater, ac, nav it goes on...

unless you do what I've always said would work... AEM EMS... running 90% of the car, the TL ECU running the other 10%... ignore the check engine light

theres no longer a need for a stand alone....greddy and aem f/ic have proven to work good enough...the few parameters that you can control and change with the 2 units are good enough to get a good tune....

you couldn't just get rid of the DBW completely...you can however have a cable operated TB, and at the same time, your accel pedal still has to turn that APP so the ECM can get feedback.

True if you wanted a good tune the FI/C and so on is a good option but if you were one of those that wanted to go all the way the stand alone would be the best bet. Plus it would be great for a turbo application with more settings and more outputs so you can monitor more things.
