Cool Custom SRI installed this weekend...

Hey guys, I just installed a custom (home made) SRI this weekend and wanted to get some feedback/help. I bought a 3" universal tube from Checker Auto for 30 bucks (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062ZGNI) and a 3" cone filter for 20 bucks (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BQ09D6/...0&linkCode=asn) So the total for my SRI is 50 bucks + tax. The install went real smooth and the sound is AWESOME!! The only modification I had to do was cut the intake tube in half for it to fit, here are some pics (I need to clean the pipe and re-take pics )...

If you notice the stock tubes for what I am guessing are breather tubes and coolant lines for the throttle body are still there?? In other people's installs they are not?? That is the only thing I was curious about, any help would be appreciated. I just used the rubber hose that was included and ran it from the intake tube to the tube that used to connect to the stock rubber intake tube as you can see below...

Nice work.. I might do this.. this weekend I hit a puddle and my car stalled.. it wouldnt start. removed my CAI where it connected to the throttle body after about 15 minutes and found some water in the tube.. DOGH!! Disconnected the tube and tried to start the car again.. and THANKFULLY it started! Drove home with the intake tube disconnected.. let the car sit overnight and let my filter dry up. Drove 3 hours after that and my car is ok.. WHEW.. so this has got me thinking in just making mine a short ram.. dogh..

I think with the other half you should get a coupler and make it into a cai...

ps, you're missing the hose that goes to the crankcase (I believe thats where it goes)

Ya man that is why I did a SRI. I agree that a CAI is better, but not by a huge amount. I am not trying to build a race car out of my TL I just wanted the sound to be a little meaner, if it gave me more HP thats great and if not O well. I think it looks good and sounds GREAT! but to each his own, I am just glad I dont have to worry about the water issue!!

About the coolant lines... There is more than one?? haha Are you saying that the line that goes in one end and out the other to just link them together? How? I wish I had a better picture or a diagram. Anyway I am guessing you mean to just use some tubing and connect them together, or get a longer hose and connect the two points together. Also this brings up another question... is the tube that is a little bigger and was connected to the stock intake tube a breather??

I did the same thing but got the parts form o'reilly and it was about the same price. But these parts all come apart and my can make any size or any type of direction or bend you need maybe even make your own CAI.

I made one for about the same price, but i got the parts form o'reilly. They have all diffrent kinds of fillings and parts. You can make any kind of intake you need.

What did you do with the lines that were going into the old intake tube and TB?
