Not to be a ‘nay-sayer’, but I doubt adding an intercooler to a COMPTECH SC running with stock pulleys is going to do much to boost output.
Digression: What makes intercoolers a necessity with turbos is that the turbocharger actually produces pressures well beyond what’s introduced into the expanse of the manifold…and with that it’s creating incredible temperatures too. This is because the relatively small turbine blades of a turbocharger must over-pressurize coming off the surface of the impellers in order to compensate for the small volume of air its capable of moving. This makes it very adiabatically inefficient, even if it were only generating a manifold boost of a few psi. However & in contrast, a supercharger is endowed with much larger impellers that have the luxury of spinning much slower. It moves a larger volume of air from a much lower rpm. This means its not heating the air nearly so much as a turbocharger. And this equates to a cooler, more oxygen rich induction.
I’m not saying an intercooler won’t provide some improvement; it will just be disproportionately less than from what gains you’d see from a turbocharger generating a net boost at the same psi level.
Also, intercoolers do add friction (& heat). Anytime you have a bend in a pipe with airflow under pressure, you’ve added heat from friction. However, the intrinsic feature of the intercooler is to provide a net cooling via convection that well offsets it’s inefficiencies.

Yeah I know, here I am again, but I find this thread fascinating, it’s a great ‘read’.
Mr. I Hate Cars, indeed, increasing the stall speed of a torque converter would work to the advantage of improving the launch of the (relatively) torque-shy TL. However, it’s a serious proposition because boosting it too much is going to adversely affect the street drivability of the car.
Mr. Csmeance, IMO, I’d guess the TL’s 6 speed MT would always enjoy an advantage over the 5 speed AT. Simply put, more gears means more time the motor is running closer to its ‘sweet spot’ in the higher RPMs…that’s significant. In fact, if Acura did just one thing to their TL, I’d take a 6 speed AT ahead of factory tweaks (aka 'Type S') to the motor. That extra gear alone will result in greater acceleration. One can always do the mods on the engine, but try adding another gear to the tranny as a weekend project. Ok, just being facetious to make a point. BTW, I enjoy the 3Gen TL forums more than any part of this website!

I would bet the discharge from the blower on the TL is at least 250 degrees which is what my turbo car is at a moderate 18psi. I understand in theory, introducing friction like bends and an intercooler will increase temps but they are far, far outweighted by the cooling of the intercooler.
There is very little restriction in a properly sized intercooler. Hardly more than a straight piece of pipe. The pressure drop over the core is due to cooling, not restriction. The only problem with the supercharged setup is you don't have a way other than changing the pulley to bring boost back up.
My car is one of the earlier cars that originally had no intercooler and I can tell you from expericence that when I intercooled it, there was a difference before the boost guage moved off of 0.

The HKS FMIC was going to be special order and as much as i would have liked to get that one, i believe the greddy will suffice, it was less expensive too.
...its coming from california so hopefully friday of this week ill have it and will mount it to the car and make the neccessary cuts on the versus bumper. I will drive around with it on the car until it comes time to make the custom piping.

ok its going to be abit longer. Today i was working on it and i found out that our car have alot of vacuum while idle, so if you guys are planing to build one i would use as little silicone couplers as possible. If you use too long of a silicon 90 degree it will colapse trust me i found out the hard way. So when i have time i will work on it again, for now i need a break
