Comptech Supercharger

Guys

Would a CompTech Supercharger on my '05 TL increase or decrease my fuel efficiency?

if you keep it under 2.5K, it will be the same, but above that it will burn fuel like an SUV.

if you got $$ to burn on a supercharger, then you shouldn't be worry about gas price

All else being equal, in theory it will increase fuel economy per hp made WOT. In the real world you're going to see a drop. Even under normal acceleration, the engine has to spin the blower. Even though the bypass is open and it's not making boost, it takes some hp to turn it. Even though it might be more efficient per hp made under throttle, you're making so much more hp that you will see a huge drop if you drive it under boost much.

There will always be variables, but basically it takes a certain amount of air and fuel to make a certain amount of hp.

Yeah that's one downside to a supercharger. I read that the SLR McLaren's supercharger needs 100+ hp from the engine just to SPIN. But that's probably an extreme case.

At cruising it will remain about the same. At WOT your fuel efficiency will suffer.

ive gotten 34 mpg doing 65mph on a state hwy with the supercharger...going 75-80 i average 32mpg...about the same as without the supercharger
