That cost is out of control. That would put a dent in anyone's pocket for a few extra HP. I personally like the look but after seeing how much it would cost me, NO WAY!. I'll hold off untill some sense comes in to place. When they figure out people wont pay that much the price better come down.

It's just not worth ruining the "square" look of the rear end design of the new TL just to get a few extra horsepower...and even that's up for debate. I didn't notice any power gain on my TL-S using the Comptech exhause...it sure looked good with NBP on the TLS, and sounded nice too...but the '04 styling clashes with the Comptech look...sorry..just my opinion.
I can't seem to get past the round tips either. The exhaust shape is a key element on this car. My order would already be placed if the tips fit the car.

For those interested in the Comptech Exhaust.... beware of the notorious Comptech "Drone"...

it was this drone that led me to eventually uninstall my CT mufflers from my TypeS and sell them. It's not as bad on the 6-speed b/c the cruising ratios allow the engine to sit above or below the "drone" rpm ... but w/ the automatics.. you can't escape the drone at highway speeds unless you decide to churn in 4th gear all the time on the highway.

The 04 TL looks better with the rectangular exhaust, IMHO.

The 2004 has much better piping than the 2nd Gen's, so I expect gains to be minimal. I do not like the look.

Now, I paid $1500 for my Mugen for the S2000, but it sounds great, is light, and probably gave me 2 HP. Consturction is beyond description - the titanium cans have welds like a Honda sport bike.

cut and weld the stock tips back on...at least ill try that first and then let you know how it works. i dont think it will make much difference overall with putting the stock size back on...worst comes to worst ill expand them more if possible.

IMO...exhaust tips with more of an oval shape like the new RL would look better than the Comptech ones

I wouldnt mind paying $1k if the sound is great. I would like an noticeable exhaust note nothing ricey something like 350z exhaust.

I personally would first attempt a muffler swap. Most of the tone will change with aftermarket resonators and the new mufflers. While cost isnt an issue, I believe its the better way to go about doing this...although some might not share my opinion in that. For me, swapping the mufflers was much easier than taking down the old system and installing a new one, plus I got to keep the stock tips on the car.

Catbacks are for power increases the person who said otherwise is full of crapola.

+7.5hp/+10tq is not bad, But not for $900. That's a pretty bad return.

with the TL thats a great return. the 2nd gen was only getting 1-2hp max with the mufflers and barly 5hp with the ct back. and for you who dont like the tips, either dont get teh comptech exhaust or do get tehm and CHANGE OUT THE TIPS! there are a million different styles that could be had to fit your preffrence!

With my old 98 Camaro SS 6MT, I dynoed 288rwhp stock. With CAI and a cutout I went 300rwhp. I went 325rwhp with headers, hi flow cats, and a catback.

I would guess the factory TL stuff is 2.5" in diameter, maybe 2.25. Either way I'm sure that 10fwhp can be pulled out. The car is so quiet that the system must have some restrictions.

I run dual 3" exhaust on my Formula with an X pipe and made 746rwhp a while back. I know a lot about mufflers I tried six different exhausts on the Formula.

Yup, I am intrested in getting the CAT BACK too. I hear the horsepower gain is 7.5 at the wheels according to a seller on eBay. I agree completly on the tips though, COMPTECH should really make the TIPS match the outline of the car. Their is nothing round on the outside and it should stay that way. Also, if their is no noticeable noise change from inside, what good is the exhaust. I'd like to drop the $1000 onm something for my TL, but need a little more convincing.
Also, has anyone seen a sound clip???

one of the guys at the Acura meet on Sunday had the exhaust, it sounded GREAT. I would consider it but the round tips turn me off.

thats what i did...not with the comptech exhaust but with the magnaflow...it looks stock from the back and there was plenty of room to get the welder in there and make it look new.

CT Exhaust = less $$$ in your wallet

now RonJon, theres something worth buying. its competitively priced, looks good, has good quality, etc. not sure if RonJon uses a Euro vendor who is pumpung out rims for other name brands too, but at least the price-is-right.

a kit is a good idea if you are looking for a kit. exhaust is a good idea if you are wanting to change the tone of your car. agreed that comptech is very expensive, but there are alternatives for about half as much.

I don't who said it but...

I had the full Comptech exhaust system installed on my S2000 and the sound was intoxicating. Not ricey by any means. Power gains might be minimal, but the sound is quite good and will help if he ever decided to do FI.

Congrats man, you made a nice choice. PS - You'll be able to sell that system for good money whenever you're ready to get rid of it so don't sweat the up front cost.
