Performance wise, CAI is better.

Brand doesn't really matter, find the cheapest one or spend as much as you want. They will all give you about the same performance.

It seems like a lot of people like AEM v2 CAI.

Will a CAI give more torque at the lower RPMs? What are some items that might achieve this the quickest (and cheapest hopefully!)?

I wouldn't buy the short ram as you are just sucking in hot air from the engine compartment, go cold air always.

Agree wit ^... I got the V2 and love it(performance is better then short ram&stock with more of a pickup but the sound is crazy nice) and only took me 1 1/2 hrs cause of the bumper removal process.(use the DYI bumper removal and CAI installation ) I also recommend to remove the battery which you wont have to bang the hell out of your car and also resets the check engine light. And make sure when you do this the car is cold and when done let it sit for a few minutes before you go and waste all your gas ( cause you will just to hear it)lol HAVE FUN......

A CAI won't deliver noticable gains. The best mod for some torque and hp would be a j-pipe, new from $400-$450. Another cheap mod would be the MDX IM spacer, which is about $80 and gives you a few low end torque.

I grew up watching my dad use k&n on & off road stuff. so im a k&n guy. also the k&n typhoon..can be converted to short air or CAI. I think im going to instal a throttle body before the intake just to see if i feel anything at all.

Anyone have a throttle body space on their tl?
