Can't take it anymore need help on decision
I know this topic has been beat to death but I appreciate your input.
Alright guys I've done some searching and have found a couple of mixed posts on trying to tone down my exhaust. I installed my cat deletes over a year or so ago and have been very happy with the power added.
That being said right away I asked about resonators and tuning my exhaust up to try and get rid of the rasp. I was told some good info and in the end I just left it and got used to the overbearing low loud bellowing sound.
I love pulling through the gears and hearing my exhaust scream, nothing beats it but when not heavy on the gas and putting a load on my engine,my car sounds like a piece. I always have to adjust my driving style and my exhaust note literally dictates how fast I accelerate.
Long story short I need to do something about it and Im asking what route I should go compared to some of your experiences.
1. go with a mid muffler and just quiet it down and from what I have read loose some HP
2. go with a resonator and tune up the rasp which sounds good because it is not really the loud factor that disturbs me it is the shitty note my car produces. I have seen people use the magnaflow res at different lengths and the ultra quiet res but most examples I have found do not include the cats being deleted.
Please give me your input and save me the trouble of wasting money on something that will not really help.
Thanks again guys this web site is a wonderful source of good knowledge.

Really you need to start thinking of a resonator and muffler as pretty much the same thing, I've learned from multiple exhaust gurus that just about every muffler shares the same basic design and to get the right sound is only obtained through trial and error. I have the vibrant ultra quiet and I like it so I would recommend that but the only to get the sound your after is to be willing to donate the time and money to make it right. Simple as that.

Thanks for your input vill0169 but from my understanding there is a difference between a straight through design and a boxed muffler that the exhaust has to move through different flanges. I know that the same effect needs to happen with the straight design but the flow is much better. Im not interested in getting a certain sound or whatnot like some people that buy any car and are like "what can I do to get the G35 sound???" im more on the side of "what can I slap on to make my head hurt less" haha. I dont have my stock exhaust anymore so I have to cut into the setup I have and add something to make it bareable. The reason I mentioned not spending money is because im no longer working for the company that allowed me to afford all the goodies and am currently attending college with no income.
One way to tame the rasp (I am not sure what the current set up is) is to get a high flow spun cell cat and weld it where the 3rd cat was. I did this on my 240sx that was straight exhaust no mufflers and it really tamed that high "riceish rasp". i wouldnt say it made it quieter but just made it deeper if that makes any sense. You can buy one on eBay for like 50-60 shipped and have it welded in.
