Can I run a intake,jpipe,catback without a tune?

Read on azine for awhile and didn't really find the exact answer. Can I run a AEM v2 Intake, XLR8 v2/RV6 v3 jpipe, and tsudo catback exhaust without needing a tune? 2006 5AT btw. Thanks.

Your car will drive better with a tune.

Define better. He will extract a few more HPs and torque, but the car will drive just fine without a tune.

But to get tuning software and get a tune is not cheap. For a car with just exhaust mods, he will pay a pretty penny on top of the already expensive full exhaust system, to squeeze out minimal power gains.

If he sees value in it, so be it. That’s something he will have to decide.

It's not all about power, taco.

The car drives better with a tune, it smoothes out drivability and optimizes your fuel for less knock.

So, yes..... The car drives better with a tune

um... wut?

so a free flowing exhaust makes the car run rough? That’s honestly the first time I’ve ever heard that.

Why do I get the feeling we are talking about two different things here. A full exhaust system, in order to get the most out of it, should have a tune placed on it. But it’s not required. You’ll still get gains without a tune.

As for anything else related, yeah, a tune can do that.

Either way, a tune doesn’t optimize your fuel. Your fuel is your fuel. I think you’re trying to say something else, but I’m not really sure what

OP was simply asking if he needs a tune for a full exhaust. He does not. But if he wants to maximize his gains, a tune would do that. He will still see power gains without a tune, but not as much. We weren’t talking about anything else in here. The stock tune is fine. It’s made for reliability beyond anything. Can it be improved? Sure. Everything on a car can be improved if you’re willing to dish the cash for it. Is it necessary? On an otherwise stock car with a full Exhaust? No, not at all.

Is it really a 'full exhaust' without HFPCs or PCDs?

It was easier to say full exhaust than naming each piece everytime. Either way, it makes no difference in this discussion.

lol don't mind me im just nit picking. But wouldn't it be a little more important to get a tune with PCD because it would truly be open with no back pressure?

yup

And since you are 2006 5AT you can't be tuned so no need to worry

Of course you can, why wouldn't you be able to? Just slap it on and call it a day, the more bolt-ons the better.
