cai voiding warrenty?
cai voiding warrenty?
i recently decided to purchase a fujita cai but someone told me that if i was to install it, acura will void my warranty? i searched for a tread on this topic but cudnt find one so was wondering if i do add a cai/ future modification parts, will acura void the warranty ? ??
They will void part of the warranty. Anything that could be related to the part you changed. Example: you put on an intake and your navigation system breaks, that is still covered. But, if you put a intake on and hydrolock your engine, no warranty...
lets not scare them! you would have to try realllly hard to get water thru the filter-up the tube and into the engine. Most people have the good sense not to be one of the cars you see on CNN in the Texas flood-rains. If the water is 1 foot high you dont belong there anyway.
As for the CAI and warranty overall- there is a law that says the dealer must PROVE a direct cause and effect to failure. Lower the car on Teins=no CV axle warranty
Dont sweat the CAI- if its a short ram that stops inside the engine area- thats not much help. Go for the full length that ends behind the bumper.

someone i knew had a CAI on his car,and the throttle butterfly got sucked into his motor and blew it,they didnt warranty it because he had a CAI...even thought it had nothing to do with his butterfly comming loose.
Trust me, I am NOT trying to scare you away from doing any mods. In fact I have the Fujita cold air as well as some other mods. I am just trying to let you know so that you can't say nobody told you. The chances of anything happening like hydrolock are HIGHLY unlikely! Just don't be stupid and drive through a river.

totally UNTRUE... I was at the dealer couple weeks ago... had a flat spot on one of my tires... so I took it in just to make sure it was just the flat spot and not an axle...
they found that bellow my intake there were some missing plastic tabs which I had lost... they replaced them and all so adjusted the intake for me...
why would they if "part of my warranty" was voided... load of crock... the dealer can't void anything until you hydrolock (<- WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS YOU SUBMERGE THE FRONT OF THE CAR)

This will vary greatly from dealer to dealer. I've heard of dealers voiding entire warranties because someone had a cat back exhaust (and got away with it because the person didn't know any better). I've also experienced dealers that were cool with just about any mod you made. Just depends. If you mention the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act then they usually back down.
