CAI install experience

Let me preface this post by saying, I'm mechanically inclined, but not quite a shade-tree mechanic, so pardon me if I use the wrong terminology and bear with me.

Put in my Fujita today while the front bumper was off for mods of its own. Add a big Thank You! to SanDiegoDrive for the great video. Around 4:30 of the CAI install video, you remove a hose assembly or plenum-thingy. The video says refer to your own intake install instructions, but Fujita's instructions have crappy, xeroxed thumbnails and they're no help. Now the assembly removal seems straightforward, but the video is missing instructions on what to do with the attached bracket in the center of this pic.

The bracket clicks/tabs into a barrel-shaped thing, an in-line filter maybe? The one hose on the one side of the 'filter' goes toward the firewall and the other side goes to a sensor/controller and then up and behind the throttle body.

I don't think this was supposed to come out, but as difficult as it was to separate it from the 'filter', I'd have guessed there would've been some mention of it. Further, the Fujita instructions had a step to "Unclip A/C line from plenum", and I suspect it's related.

So, did I do right to leave it in there or should I go back and remove/disconnect some or all of it and if so, what exactly? The two hoses supplied with the CAI were covered in the DIY, so I'm confident that's right. I was just thrown a curve with the above.

it's made out of hard plastic right? you leave it in there. it's called something like "evap purge valve". if you remove it you might throw a cel, maybe not, but it's supposed to stay. you did it right, just disconnect the bracket clip from the evap valve so you can remove the entire bracket.
