Bolt on Accord dyno

So I got dyno'd today w00t! I went to NRG Tech on Long Island off of Edison ave in Suffolk. They are known for building a lot of fast imports and have a pretty nice shop!

Their printer wasn't working (sigh) but I got a cell phone pic of the dyno. They will be emailing me the charts tomorrow morning and I will post them. I also got 2 videos that I will upload tonight.

They have a DynoJet and I got 3 pulls. My mods are:

Fujita CAI (w/small hole covered in Gorilla tape lol)
OBX catback
RV6 Jpipe
RV6 PCDs
P2R ported IM
TB spacer (probably gonna take off)

The results were 255whp/209wtq. I thought the torque number was slightly low, but I'm satisfied. It was relatively humid today, looks like we're getting a storm tonight. Numbers are still good tho!

I am planning on going back after my 3" exhaust and new intake to see what a 3" exhaust is good for I may opt for the V2 as well. If I do, I want to dyno with the 3" first, then install the intake between pulls to see the difference. Let me know what you guys think!

Oh, almost forgot.

Good numbers.

Wouldn't a 3" exhaust be worse? You have no turbo or S/C, I dunno why you need a 3".

For sure. When I go next time I'll hit you up. I may have another Accord with me and a 370 if they decide to come.

It's $100 to rent the dyno for an hour and the minimum is 1hr/car. But, I went at the very end of the day (after work, got there @6) and he only charged me $50.

Great numbers sonnick! I love how our J30's make great power all the way to redline! No drop off at the top whatsoever. Also look at the torque line. Usually engines typically drop off considerably after 5250rpm but not our J30's . IMO one of the best N/A 3.0L ever made. It made Wards 10 best 2 years in a row!

Probably not for at least a month.

Thanks man! I was very happy to know the power didn't drop off at redline! And yes I agree the J is a great motor, especially for being SOHC!

Man, I wish you had a pre pcd chart. I'm on the fence with them. '06 TL 6MT, AEM, spacer, pulley, ATLP J and race, and Excelerate resonated CB. It sounds so damn good now with no rasp whatsoever.

I'm agonizing over whether or not to do anything.

Nice numbers, BTW! Has Dave B seen them? This'll maybe quell his doubts since he thinks a 6MT TL , fully bolted puts down about 230.

Do it My top end is killer with pre-cats, best power mod for the TL short of supercharger/turbo.

Yes there is rasp if your are catless but I got used to it. It goes away when you nail the gas hard and sounds amazing!! I get compliments all the time..and the smell..well the smell is haha

Sonnick, nice numbers bro!! I'm glad you got a dyno now, we can see the gain from your 3" exhaust when you get that done.

Why are you gonna take out the spacer?

ps...I can't wait to dyno my TL

Thanks guys!

I wish I did a pre/post PCD dyno as well. However, it's worth the $$ and PITA to install without a doubt. The power gain is like no other bolt on except the Jpipe, but at the other end of the spectrum. Jpipe = low/midrange, PCDs = top end.

Alex, I'm probably gonna take it out cuz I heard it can hinder performance on some engines. I haven't seen a dyno of it on our motors, but I have heard that on some engines it really does nothing but make the air more turbulent and actually can lose some power.

I can't wait for the 3" exhaust, I'm so siked! I'm not gonna dyno again right away, but it shouldn't be too long. I'm still deciding whether I want the AEM V2 or not. If so, I will do a dyno with just the 3", then install the V2 and see the difference. It won't be in the same conditions, but there's the SAE corrections

The only thing tho is that my Fujita has a hole about the size of a quarter so I don't know what affects that has. It's covered with Gorilla tape, but idk...lol.

And yes, I hope Dave sees this so we can finally put the bolt on TL 235whp myth to rest.

I still am slightly disappointed with my TQ numbers. I'm just wondering whether the car was running strong or not. I assume so, but the torque seems low. There are times when I'll mash the throttle in 2nd @20 and it'll actually pull fairly hard, and other times where it'll feel like I'm in 3rd. But whatever, 3" exhaust here I come!

Oh, and I have no doubt that either a J30a5 or J32a3(?) can reach 300whp NA, maybe even without cams...If you think about it...PnP head/IM runners, bored TB, increased compression, UR pulley, 3" exhaust, V3 Jpipe, and a tune = 45whp? I think so. Then add cams, you may be looking at a 310-320whp NA monster

yup paul proved 300whp n/a is possible with his stroker builds. btw sonnick u should just get a j36 built, 280lbs torque will feel soo much better than the torque ur making now. i know my car is a completely different beast now.
