You should start with researching.
Honestly, true answer. It will help you decide.
But if you really like to go blindly off of other member's words.

Best "power" setup without FI (forced induction, ie... charger)
CAI-PCD-JPipe-Test Pipe-Catback Exhaust = Free flowing and no cats (illegal)

There's also weight reduction.
Not sure if this helps you. Anyways, good luck on your quest!

Even though the supercharger and turbo seem like a lot of money, compare the hp you get and how much most people end up spending on mods over the course of 4 years which may give 40hp at most.

I say keep it stock for now and save up for FI.

Otherwise the TL seems to respond the best to exhaust mods and lightweight pullies.

J-Pipe:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/atlp-j-pipe-dyno-633717/

PCD/Pre-Cat Deletes:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739533

and it's about $6000 to turbo a TL-S

PCD is PreCat Delete. It removes our two primary cats with straight pipes. It is for "off-road" use only. As it does not comply with emission standards.

I do not believe I Hate Cars is currently FI. Here's a the turbo thread.
But it is 80+ pages long with lots of garbage pages. You will need to filter through it.

The J-pipes are pretty expensive but you could check out the black market, maybe find a used one. It's worth it though, the power gains are definitely there. I would really spend the money on exhaust, just with my cat-back exhaust and j-pipe I felt a big difference, especially top end.

Check with Mrheeltoe or Excelerate (both vendors on Azine) for performance parts.

1) but look at the threads. To me, worth it. Especially ATLP V2 J-Pipe. It is drop/lowered friendly.

2) PCD replaces your cats and is not emissions legal

If quiet and deeper tone is your game...
here is a good option:
Tanabe Medalion Touring Cat-back- It is under 93 DB
I simply love mine

I got the ATLP Base exhaust. It's pretty loud and with the j-pipe it's very throaty It's loud but not a trashy/ricer loud, very sexy sounding. I think it goes very well with the TL but that's my opion. Other members swear it is way too loud. Check some youtube videos, just type in ATLP base exhaust

Oh yeah, you could get the resonated ATLP base exhaust. That is probably a little quiter and maybe what you might be looking for.

Here is the black market

Sorry im bad at explaining lol but this is the link lol =https://acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8

First off, let me say, if you want power, and you don't have the RV6 Pre-Cat deletes... GET THEM!!!

The only things I've done since my last pull was the Innovative Mounts & RV6 Pre-cats

Last Run, April 2008.
3rd Gear
Max Power
272.46 whp // 219.49 wtq
65.25 Degrees

October 2008
3rd Gear
Max Power
293.16 whp // 233.66 wtq
66.27 Degrees

What you've all been waiting to read!

Power Gains from RV6 Pre-Cat Deletes
20.70 whp / 14.17 wtq

I've been using the same exact dyno, every time i pulled my car

239 whp Stock
249 whp + CAI, Pulley, P2R TB spacer, OE IM gaskets
261 whp + ATLP Catback Exhaust
272 whp + ATLP J-Pipe
293 whp + RV6 PreCats & Innovative Mounts

300 whp ??? soon.... real soon....a nice tune, P&P of the IM runners.. and im sure ill be around 310+ whp (of course, all dynos read different) but i keep using the same one, with similar run conditions

i'll post dyno graphs later!!

Oh, and FYI, the 250wtq in my signature, was a 4th gear pull in April... i pulled 4th gear once today to see TQ numbers, and it showed 264. However, 4th gear yields low WHP b/c of rev limit issues... car dropped off at 5k RPM.. Wouldnt keep pushing...

Yes and I'd add a UR Pulley as well.

Also look up the Honda Ridgeline/Acura MDX IM Manifold spacer. There is a thread on here - many pages. Lots of low end torque from that, but it's not quite plug and play; you have to address some clearance issues.

Not to side track the thread completely but can I get feedback on how loud the J-Pipe mod is? I've got a CAI + CT Catback and it sounds barely louder than stock (at < 4000rpm part throttle) but growls at WOT (which is great).
Does the J-Pipe keep the TL quiet (which I want) or does it kick up the volume noticeably?

AS for the pulley, it's either
A - lighter
and/or
B - underdrives the accessories for less power drag. I'm new to the TL world so not sure which the UR pulley does for this car.

If you have any drone at low/medium RPM, it's possible the J-Pipe will actually help. As far as noise little or no difference.

Stock crank pulley weight about 8 lbs. The car has to expend some energy to get the 8 lbs moving. UR pulley weighs about 2 lbs. Now the car can spend less energy getting the pulley spinning. That saved enegy goes to the drivetrain, and eventually to the wheels.

Bearcat, thanks for your response. Found it very helpful.
Now here is another question:
I'm searching all over for the J-Pipe with good clearance.
I see ATLP and RV6 seem to get the nod for power and sound. Any crazy issues with either?
