Best Bang for the Buck?

I am trying to decide between the p2r throttle body spacer and richie's j-pipe. From what I gather, the p2r tb spacer is $120 from excelerate and barely gives any gain. The j-pipe is $350 and gives a small gain. Is the j-pipe worth 3x more?

My only performance mod is the ur-crank stock size crank pulley. Got mine for like $175, I think. I think(?) it gave a small gain. Seems to have improved throttle response more than any real acceleration improvement.

J-pipe will give you more gains you can feel. If you want some other recomendations:

1. Progress Sway Bar
2. Cold Air Intake
3. Weight reduction

IMO a TB spacer is pretty pointless, jpipe all the way

You want the J-Pipe. I just ordered mine today. Go with the Fall Special btw. $10 more and you get a 3rd cat delete pipe!

p2r is good if you doing a cai also, but do the jpipe because whoever told you its small gain lied to you... it yields some hefty torque gains

J-pipe is wayyy more bang for your buck vs. a tb spacer. Especially with the "butt-dyno"

I have the AEM V2 and want to add a J-pipe/test 3rd cat test pipe. But still after reading/searching I am STILL not sure which J-Pipe to get??? I am installing my V2 soon, and want to do this also.

I don't think I am getting the TB spacer, seems like a waste of $$$.

From what I have gathered the TB spacer doesn't add much gain, but it helps retain what you do have from heatsoak. Right? So if you're in a hot climate it MAY be worth it?

if you want more hp and tq, then get j-pipe. I see you already have the UR pulley so the the j-pipe/test pipe would compliment well with it. if you want simple and cheaper mods, then do p2r with thermal gaskets, IM gaskets, and throttle body bypass. (Note: the throttle body and gaskets only help with heat soak on your motor and yeild little if any hp)

Still haven't decided on which j-pipe?!? Sounds like you are really overthinking it. What I mean is, given they all do the same thing and yield similar gains, the decision comes down to the minor differences between the three.

For me, I was getting the ATLP exhaust so I figured I'd stay ATLP for everything, and get a small discount on a large package order through Mike. I don't plan on slamming the car, a modest drop down the road probably, so the additional clearance the RV6 pipe offers wasn't a factor. At the time, XLR8 wasn't out (or had just come out, can't remember) so it wasn't really a factor. Some people like the finish of the RV6 parts, which really is nice, but I personally wouldn't use that as a reason to buy something that's under the car. But, the RV6 pipe is priced nicely and the combo deals Richie offers are really good.

I agree that the TB spacers aren't worth the money, CAI or not, I just don't see their function justifying the price. Plus, unless you cut your intake tube (which isn't a big deal), there are potentially fitment issues with your CAI.

I guess the p2r spacer probably saves 3hp when hot. The j pipe adds about 10 hp. I live in Los Angeles, so I think the spacer will make some difference.

Anyhow, I'm pretty sure I will go with the jpipe. How does it compare with the UR pulley?

The P2R TB spacer adds more volume of air available in the plenum and the thermal gaskets help reduce intake air temps. It's good for about 5whp as the dyno showed but the j-pipe is definitely going to add more power. Of course it costs some more but I would do the j-pipe first.

They all pretty much do the samething bro. The reason I chose R-V6 was mainly because of the ground clearance & the combo. deal with the 3rd Cat Delete which is a steal in my eyes (no offense to the ATLP guys 'cause I envy your exhausts!).

And the TB Spacer, from what my installer told me, is a waste until you start adding a lot of bolt on's. Adding it to a stock or just with an intake TL won't do much.

Go with the pipes.

If this is the case, does that mean a V2 w/ the J- & Race Pipe should be adding around 10-12Hp?

i would've suggested the ur crank pulley. out of all the mods that i have, i'd say that THAT mod would be my..."favorite"

if you're gonna get the j-pipe, why not order richie's entire line up? pre-cats, jpipe, race pipe

I doubt it, unless your car is running in really hot, humid weather, and racing the engine for a while.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Type S' produce around 250Bhp to the wheels & not 286Bhp as "advertised"? If so, I should be producing around 260 then because I've heard the V2 only adds 3-5 horses & the J-Pipe & 3rd Cat Delete offering an extra 10 or so.

@TL: Being in Texas right now, the weather is random, but the majority of the year is pretty warm/humid, so I think Excelerate isn't very far off the mark. Either way, I think I'll have my local shop do a dyno run to see for myself.
