atlp or excelerate j pipe?

im going to order a new j pipe today and i was wanting opinions on which j pipe members would get, atlp or excelerate ? from what ive read excelerate might produce and extra horsepower or two but hangs lower. im not going to drop my car any but i am worried about speed bumps. if i dont think it would ever rub i would definately get the excelerate. any opinions would be appreciated. oh, and this is going on a 2007 tl type s automatic.

Get the RV6 V-3. Makes more power and doesn't have low hanging issues.

Here is the thread for the J-Pipe
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/rv6-v3-long-tube-j-pipe-release-04-08-tl-all-trims-%2A%2Aupdate-page-4%2A%2A-773591/

Here is my install and dyno thread (on a type-s)

lmao ! i agree, but i bought an extended warranty that will last me another 90 some thousand miles and if something happended to the engine i dont want them to blame it on me taking the cats off, or i would do pre cat deletes for sure. plus i want it to be able to pass inspection.

You would still have your pre cats with the RV6 pipe!! I would call and ask if it is an issue, I have the RV6 and its pretty sweet!

It depends on your state. Most states require that you do not modify the emissions system in any way.

Here's what I'm doing. Get the RV6 J Pipe. Keep your stock j pipe and third cat. If anything goes wrong, throw them back on before you take the car to the dealer.

If you're not going to lower your car, the XLR8 will be just fine. It does sit lower, but even over speedbumps it will not scrape.

+1 i got the XLR8 and it will not scrape at all if your staying stock height. Anything lower than 2inch though might give u a problem. and if you get the XLR8 with a test pipe it should give u the same gains as the rv6-3 pipe. Either way cant go wrong.

Ehh, the RV6 should still have slightly more gains because the primaries are longer. The XLR8 primaries are a little longer than the ATLPs, but the RV6 V3s are definitely the longest.

Pshht...who stays stock height these days

Yup! They have until the 21st to get it to my door. I will get a credit to my card if it has not shown up by then. I never pay my credit card bill until I have the items I've bought in hand so no worries!

RV6 J-pipe V3.
I have not tried the ATLP or the excelerate so I cant compare. What I can vouch for is the awesome customer service of Rich. I have not seen or met a more down to earth vendor. He is always eager to help and if that is not enough his j-pipe definitely lives up to its claims. I have a 07 TL-S AT as well and let me assure you that you will not be disappointed. Like someone else said just keep the stock j and 3rd cat for the time that you will have to go to the dealer or inspection. With newer bolts in place you should have no problems swapping the j-pipes.JUST MAKE SURE THE INSTALLERS DON'T CUT OFF THE 3RD CAT WHERE IT BOLTS ON TO THE STOCK J-PIPE. Mine was cut off from the j-pipe and now I have to go looking for bolts to make them one piece again.

I have had continuous contact. It is being blamed on the fabricator. Check it! Start at the bottom.

Since I have not received a credit to my card, can I assume the pipe will be at my address on or before the 21st?

On the 21st of May, if the j-pipe has not arrived at the shipping address, I am paying my credit card bill minus $437.01 and will tell them to credit my account that amount as I have not received the item. I will also forward all of our E-mail correspondence. If you are unsure of your ability to meet that deadline, please cancel my order now and credit my card.
Thanks-J

John it has not. The pipes are being finished and the gaskets still haven't arrived. I have been assured by the owner of the fabrication shop though that the oldest orders, which includes yours, will be shipping by the end of the week. Thanks for your patience. It's almost done.

John, I spoke to the fabricator last week. All of the j-pipes we have on order will ship by Wednesday. The last of the pipes are being welded and the gaskets are arriving tomorrow.

John, I understand. I've called the fabricator again and he assured me that the j-pipes are almost done. I've expressed my displeasure with the delay. I'm just waiting for a confirmation as to when they will ship. I will know for sure tomorrow.

I'm not trying to be an arse but it has been a month, my credit card bill is due soon, I'm never late on my bill, I'm not paying my credit card bill for something I have not received.
I don't want to send a letter to my creditor explaining why I'm not paying.
I can appreciate your situation when you are counting on a builder/fabricator to get you a product in a timely fashion. I just want you to appreciate mine.

John, I'm sorry for the delay. This is not typical for us. Your j-pipe is shipping very shortly. We've also been waiting a little extra to have gaskets made for all the j-pipes now and those are now included with the j-pipes free of charge.

Well actually no. We've only had a few parts on back order. However, it is the beginning of the mod season and parts do go on back order. A TL supercharger is not a very common part and it is back ordered by CT-E, not by us. Magnusson is a little behind with the blowers and the TL kit requires a custom-machined shaft.

My apologies.

Nice of you to come onto the forum though and publicly rectify the situation with John, so to you.

It sucks cuz sometimes you are in the middle. We order from you, or any other vendor, you send out the request to be made or shipped or whatever. Then, if you don't have the item in stock (why would you stock TL superchargers?), or the MFG is backordered, or in the manufacturing process, you get blamed for it despite it having nothing to do with you directly.

Must be frustrating sometimes, but I've only heard great things about Excelerate so I didn't mean it as a shot to you, I just wanna help him install it! Lol.

Soon....I'm not sure I can comment on the J-Pipe by itself as I am also doing PCDs and custom exhaust all the way back.

I couldn't be happier with my j-pipe by XLR8. However, a few months ago, I was getting a burning smell that I couldn't find out where it was coming from. Due to the design of that j-pipe, it caught a plastic bag and it melted on there. Scraped it off now, but what a pain. Quality is superb though.

could you feel huge power gains from the j pipe gilla, or does it feel like installing an intake or something like that?

I sent my payment today and the J-pipe shipped today.
I should have it in a couple of days.
Richie is awesome!
Plus 1 for the RV6 V3 J-pipe.

And Silver, you'll most definitely feel it, its adds 12-15 whp.

I went from an AEM CAI to j-pipe AND quad cat back and it was like a new car. Exhaust note like you wouldn't believe, and TONS more low end. Not sure how much of each contributed to the performance, but the stock exhaust is pretty free flowing, so I would think the j-pipe had a bigger effect on power. Equal length primaries help the exhaust scavenging properties, which is key for a NA engine like ours.

GO FOR IT!

That's awesome.

Only thing I do not like about the V3 is that there is no real good spot for a wideband.

There is a small section of pipe right after the merge for a wideband bung. This should provide a accurate combined wideband signal.
