Anyone run a 13.9 yet?

Anyone crank off a 13.9 without a power adder yet? I was hoping to see more trying, so I haven't bother with any of my boltons yet since there is no competition.

I might hit GLD on Tuesday bonestock with 10,000 miles and see what happens. Post up your best times stock or modded!

I'm guessing 14.1 stock is possible, maybe ~100mph

Do it or at least run a little stronger, I'm not motivated to beat on the car at the track until I see someone lay down at least a 14.1.

If I ran the TL, I'd go to GLD (Great Lakes Dragway, WI), since they are on open on weekdays.

I'd like to see it to, since I'm gunning for 13.9's with my CL-S6. I added an icebox & lighter wheels since I ran 14.2

I went to the track today with high hopes, only to pull a best time of 15.6 in my 04 5AT. I have the AEM CAI, 19's, removed the spare, but could not break 15.6.
I know the wheels will slow me down, but that much?

Yeah heavy wheels kill 1/4 times.

I ran 14.08 @ 98.8mph today, hoping for 13's with some more weight loss and more practice launching.

One reason I know the 5at is slower, is because their is no good way to launch it, It is really slow off the line.

SGT post your whole slip... did you get wheel spin? Don't leave traction control on.

I'm waiting for someone to post a 14.doh and then I will go. Until then I will work on getting my 98 Formula to run 9.3@149mph (last was 9.61@144).

Here's the slip of my best run

R/T .525
60' 2.526
330 6.824
1/8 10.254
MPH 72.76
1000 13.203
1/4 15.679
MPH 89.47

This was one of my worst reaction time's as well, I had a couple .250 reaction times but posted 15.7's and 15.8's. I had very little wheel spin. I think the 17's will go on for my next track outing.

Well the ET isnt what concerns me, its the MPH. What is the elevation of the track? My bone stock 200hp Taurus was running 88mph with heavy 17's, so you should be MUCH faster.

I think I remember reading on here that its best NOT to brake-tq the new 5AT's. Something about the ETC cutting power if thats done. Not sure though, I'm sure someone who has raced an auto will chime in.

I'm waiting for someone to post a 14.doh and then I will go. Until then I will work on getting my 98 Formula to run 9.3@149mph (last was 9.61@144).
A lowly CL doesnt count?

Before we analyze your times, how were the other cars running??

I ask that because I've been at the track on those occassions where everything seemed to be making passes slower than they should.

2.5 short time, you did not spin the tires you left the line like you had the parking brake on? My friend's GrandAm went 15.6.

I would always footstall an auto car and leave as hard as I can without getting crazy wheel spin. I keep increasing the launch rpms until the car spins a 2.2 for a FWD car. I'm sure a 2.1 is doable at least.

The foot-stall does not work, seems to make the auto confused, then it is a very slow start. I was primarly doing the left on the brake, then when the light would hit I would lift and drop the right foot and keep it to the mat. I tried a few different things but nothin was workin.

A few cars that I can recall......

Supercharged RSX 14.4
Modded SRT-4's 13.8-14.4
Supercharged 350Z 12.9
Stock G35 Auto 15.9

So if you footstall it, does to leave weird, like second gear or like it's in some limp mode?

Good luck Nitro.

Hey Joe5.0, you running a CAI on your CL? You're one of the few guys on here who is taking his Acura to the track.

I notice when I screw around on the street the car wheelhops on 1-2 shift if I powershift it, how you shift your car at the track? I don't want to break a suspension part.

Nice... Was that on the 19's?

Is your clutch slipping? Were you slipping it out real high?

Yes it was on the 19's. not to high around 3500k. i just ran to many brackets back to back. the car with a good clutch will be deadly. i really cant wait for comptech tp put out the S/C i would think low 13's maybe high 12's are in reach. with a good driver

Yeah I have an icebox, but it did zero for power. I dyno'd the same and ran the exact same mph as stock. And mine also hops on the 1-2, and def off the line, but with the dr's at 15psi its not as much. I dont powershift, altho I do speedshift. I have powershifted the whole run, and it didnt seem to help my times, so I dont do it since I dont wanna hurt anything.

I was just wondering if anybody has been able to launch there 3rd gen TL succesfully. If so how high do you rev it? If I try to launch or even drop the clutch from a decent RPM I will spin tires wayyyy to long.

Nitro, did you hotlap your car, ie, make a ton of back to back runs?

In general I won't do more than two back to back runs in any car, you need to let stuff cool off.

No CAI for you Nitrotiger?

Launching a heavy fwd manual car is all about finesse. You dont want to shock the tires, you also dont want to bog the engine, or slip the clutch too much. I find 2500 rpm is a nice spot in my car. With the on/off style of the clutch you cant really slip it easily, so a progressive application of the throttle is important.

Its really all about practice, and lots of it.

I am selling my 225 drag radials and going with a higher profile 245 width, so hopefully it'll absorb some more shock without inducing hop.

Yah if you hotlap a stick car the clutch can overheat.

Joe I was thinking rolling out fast at 2500 might be okay... that's good to hear.

My CL doesnt have a clutch problem with hotlapping, and actually my times dont really suffer from hotlapping. My mustang on the other hand doesnt like it. The clutch will actually stick at the line if I dont give it some cooldown time between passes, and its annoying because it sometimes sticks enough so that it'll pull me out of the pre-stage lights.
