Anyone drag their TL-S on a real strip yet?

I'm wondering what they trap at (both manual and auto).

R&T clocked a 14.3 @ 99.9 MPH with an ambient temp of 90 degrees F (6 speed).

I did a couple weeks ago and ran a 14.24 at 97.9 on a 70 degree day. I have a 6spd S and was not using VSA.

Best times I've seen reported for a box stock '04 TL manual (had the A-Spec package) was 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 14.3 at 99 MPH. Car and Driver magazine.

A 14.24 is a good time for a small V6 pulling around a mid-3500 pound front drive car. Bet you really had to work the launch.

It was the first time at the track for my TL my best run was my first as my clutch started to slip in suqsequent runs. I have been dragging my various FWD Honda's recreationally lastly being my turbo 2000 prelude. The TL is a heavy car but feels very strong in the upper end. I have an AEM intake and Comptech S/S in my S, I had about 1/2 a tank of 93 octane gas and my briefcase in the trunk

Im going to be attending Honda Day @ e-town this weekend....depending on how packed it is, and how the temp. is. (hopefully not TOO hot) I might run it at the track. Let's see what happens =]

Low 14s and high 90s for trap speed on a hot day is not too bad at all.

Seems like a few minor mods (intake/exhaust) and get a good launch on a day with good air a Type S should be able to knock down some 13s without too much problem.

Yep. The biggest problem with FWD cars is their notoriously poor traction. It's really hard to get a decent, and consistent, launch in street trim. So when someone turns in a low-14 E.T., I am impressed.

before drawing any conclusions, remember he said denver. Denver hates NA cars.

Bullshit. You beat the Z...but you'll never convince me you ran a 12.20. Funny how the vid didn't show the clock.

14.3?? a type-s? wow i'm surprised...when the TL's first came out in 04, it was rated 14.4 in the quarter mile (6speed)...don't know if it was R&T or C&D but...one of those...

I have an 06 acura tl mt and i took it to the track a few months ago...with 19 inch rims on it i was running 14.3 at 99mph.. with my stock rims my best run was 14.1 at 101mph. and like the rest said the hardest part was the lunch it was hard to be consistent! it was about 90 degrees out also.

it was road wars at Milan drag way in michigan!

12.20 in the 1/8th mile. If you use the 1/8th mi to 1/4 mi calculators..... that equates to a not so optimal time too.

R&T times dont represent the best a vehicle can do. If you read their testing conditions they set it up to get the time that they think an average driver can do.

The Type S cars are the heaviest cars...

My automatic Type S tips the scales at ~ 3,650 pounds curb.

I'm still waiting to hear from someone who has posted actual times at a strip with an '07/'08 TL-S automatic.

BTW: I think my (bone stock engine) '06/6 speed/V6 Accord EX was slightly quicker than my TL.

12.20 in the 1/8th!! That is actually really slow. I was able to run 10 flat with a 97 Prelude weighing in at 3000lbs. I do understand the temp played a big role, but WOW, that time is not good at all. Wait till it gets a little cooler outside and work on your launch. That will help big time. What was the 60' time?

yeah the high that day was like 101 so temp played a big role....i just went with some friends and decided to see what the type-s would do....the 60 ft time was 2.33 sec...the 1/8th mile wasnt 12.2--that was 1000 ft. 1/8th mile was 9.6 sec @ 76MPH.

Do you have the aspec suspension and did you have any mods to the car? I need to get mine out and run it.

For what it's worth, here's my results from last month. **Don't laugh!!!** Albuquerque isn't any better than Denver (altitude). The track is at 5500 ft above sea level, so the air is thinner up here. Also, I have a CBP TL-S 5AT, stock (at the moment)...

Reaction Time: .561 seconds

60ft: 2.497 seconds

330ft: n/a

660ft: 10.516 seconds @ 73.287 mph

990ft: n/a

¼ mile: 16.205 seconds @ 86.283 mph

WOW, it is amazing how much the thin air plays into the times. I think a little spray would do you good!! Thank you for posting the times.

My apologies Attack. I should have been more careful and noticed the mph and figured it out. Again, I apologize.

I guess I get sick of hearing all these pumped up civics, srt4's, etc that claim all these incredible numbers. Yet you never see proof. My Cobra's best ever was 11.82 at a buck nineteen. Perfect day, incredible air, and a hard hook. It is in reality a 12 flat car. Yet the few times I ever ran one of these cars on a freeway on ramp, etc...it never had a problem with them...except one. I had a Supra that flat ass embarrassed me. Incredible car.

03-04 Cobra? Nice car! Modded Supras aren't the wisest choice to run against on the freeway lol. I'm sure you would've beat the same car in 1/4. Ever heard the old saying, What do 400, 500, and 600hp Supras have in common? 12sec timeslips.

Don't make me laugh

TL a 13 second car? Sorry but the reality is that these cars are simply too heavy to get to the 13's without some serious mods. My prior car was a 13.4 second car and it weighed almost the EXACT same as the TL but it had a (conservative) 349HP normally aspirated engine under the hood. In order to get a TL into the high 13's you are going to need at LEAST a supercharger.
