Thanks ~ Yeah I have to get back on the dyno.. might be small gains.. Worth it for the sound and I like the red ! I cut down the pipe quite a bit to take hydrolocking out of the equation.. well that is assuming i don't drive through a small river

Looks great. I like the red. Mine should be done by next week. What kind of elbow are you using?

My only concern would be the air quality. I'm assuming that a charger would suck in much more air, and having the filter lower might increase the induction of particles? Also would a air filter for a charger require more frequent cleaning in general?

it's not as long as the CAI usually is.. I'm using the AEM dryflow filter which does a better job of that.. cleaning is a snap anyway.. easy to get the filter out..

Question. With the AEM CAI now part of the s/c modification. Does it make the car much louder? Hence you won't hear the s/c whine as much??? I'd like to know..

Yea Jack, you should of never sold yours, it sounds awesome. The whine is twice as loud. At WOT you will attract attention from all over. Definately a mod I would suggest to anyone. Dont underestimate what Acuratein said about it, it is right on point.

Yeah, ACCURATEin took me for a ride in his car just after he rigged up his Injen...the only way to describe it is that it screams. If you've got a SC, you should do this...gains will probably be very minimal, but the sound is unbelievable!

I'm glad to see you fella's enjoying the intake modification.

I love the sound of the whine under WOT.

But recently i cant get on it these days due to the rising cost of gas. I try to keep my foot off the accelerator most of the time.

Anyone with the S/C...consider this mod. the sound is unreal.

1 model for our cars yes. i cut mine straight with no bends, so in theory i could have used any intake tube.

you have to cut it, if you want it to fit in any kind of way.. the way i did mine, my filter sits up higher then it did when i had the cai withouth the s/c.. my front end is pretty low, so this prevents any chance of hydrolock don't let the pictures deceive you.. the tube is actually reversed and i relocated the AEM sticker..

Does the extra airflow help to keep the charger any cooler? Just thought I would ask. I would seem that the faster moving air would help to keep the charger a little cooler. Maybe not a ton, but a little. Glad to hear everyone loves the sound. I still want a rear turbo setup, as I love the sound of a turbo spoiling and the BOV and Wastegate. pppsssssttt!!!!

I feel that the blower is a bit cooler after this mod yes. Just slightly, but still noticable.

..thats right you have a boost gauge!

You're right...this mod does allow easier access to the battery.

the throttle body is now verticle.. can't do it man.. cutting the tube is very easy.. when you get the current air box and heat shield out of there, you will see that it will be necessary to cut the intake.. againstallodds cut his, he was the first one to put in the AEM cai for the charger,

If you are worried about cutting the AEM one, buy a short ram intake. That is all that is really needed. Why waste a good CAI when you can do the same thing with a short ram, and hack it if needed.

Yea we only cut ours because we had one left over from before the supercharger. But like Black_05_tl_6sp said get the short ram, well I see you already ordered yours. Send it back and find any short ram about 3 1/4 inch tubing, and try to get a better elbow than what I used from Pepboys. It should all fit together. If I was you I would keep the CAI that you ordered and hack it down so it is straight, make sure you keep the side that has the breather tube adapter and get a longer breather hose and you should be all good.

I second that. I'm about to trade my TL for a Charger SRT8 but it's doesn't offer 6MT. So I'll wait. I was at a light next to a charger, I could hear that engine pretty good and sounds like the whinning is a lot louder than my TL.

Hey I was at Pepboys today and looking at the 90* tubing, im going to try to mount 2 90* tubes together and take some off of one. Basically making it into a 110* bend without all of the ridges in it. The AEM intake goes from 3 1/4 inch pipe to the tube with ridges in it, thats about 2 1/4 inch to the throttle body thats about 3 inch. I want to get that bend wider, probably another 2 - 4 whp gain. Ill try tommorrow. Dtpjigzer, if you have any problems call me, ill steer you through it. Ill pm the number.
