Also, another potential source could be FaceCreep Market place; Jseries & Jswap Engine Community.
I see a lot of Accord 6MT's pop up on there and the occasional TL-S 6MT.
The key is to find one as close to home as possible to save $$$ on shipping.

I have been contemplating signing up to that place. But I disagree with its principles, even if that means I get shut out. The kids on their don’t like/know how to ship, so they avoid it like the plague even for small/light items.

The amount of knowledge of the J-series is so deep there it’s laughable.

I should learn to search better! Thank you Zeta!

Both of those locations are 3 hours and 17 minutes from me. Three miles difference between the two.. lol

Both locations have less rain than Portland, but Prosser is a high desert area meaning possible in better cosmetic shape? Though the mileage is higher by 39,000 miles.

Guess its a road trip next weekend?

You are way deeper into these cars financially and time-wise than you would be in a B8.5 (this particular drivetrain specifically).

I don’t think anyone is deeper. Though I do this for the experience of learning I love to do. This car platform is special to me, can you tell?

The money I don’t miss, because I’m having the time of my life. One day I will look back at all this while I drive one of my TLs and shed a tear.

I have a true emotional attachment to the 3G. And though I’m trying to, I can’t shake it.

I could have bought a lightly used Mid range Ferrari or Lamborghini at this point, but what fun would that be? Not knowing how it runs or works, too scared to drive it because each mile lowers the value and a nail in a tire will break the bank.

What I’m doing is in my opinion the best trade off.

Spoke to the Transmission builder at LevelTen.com during lunch today.

They sell a 500Whp clutch pack kit. What I didn’t know is they can build a 600/700, even 1000whp Auto tranny. They just don’t sell it to the public, you have to send in your tranny.

1000whp 3G 5AT Tranny that can go up to 248mph on stock wheels/tires? Omg!

Jermey found Audi, and prob likes that platform better. Idk.

I could say the same if I had that kind of money, but I like you Love the 3G TL’s! And yes, I’d love to have an auto supercharged, or manual supercharged. It’s just not in my funds at the moment. So I’ll rock my AT, and enjoy her for what she is. And I’ll also envy those that take the time Like Acuratlbuilder, to make them even more enjoyable. No matter the age.

I have a lil Suzuki vitara 5sp manual as my daily (if you want to call it that). It’s not fast, but it is fun to drive, and has 4X4 low and high, for when I want to go off-road. Or load up some mulch or rock and bring it to the backyard. Idk, I’m simple. I’d rather keep what I own, then go into car payments....it’s just me. I’m not saying anyone can’t do it, I just choose not too. For now....

I love what you’re doing with every part of the TL, Acuratlbuilder! Love it

Ya car payments are a drag, and the bank has the car note. It makes one unable to do anything to the car as to not void the warranty. I’ve never had a car payment as all my cars were used. But Imagine its like leading a car you can own when the lease is up.

Some guys have their “racecar” as their daily. It seems important to have a nice car(like the 3g for nice days and weekends) and a daily car for going to work or doing utility work.

Thanks for the love man, This is a fascinating hobby. I want to see how far it goes!

Truth be told, I should have stuck with my original black beauty...I knew her from the showroom floor and had a long torrid love affair with her. The blue one always felt like someone else's girl.

fun 4x4
and a smooth good gas mileage honda daily commuter is winning at life.
the BEST cars I've enjoyed have been the ones I've bought for NOTHING and made somewhat cool.
I LOVED that damn brown A3 6mt with 200K...turbo was fun.
I kinda loved the XC90 I recently had for 2 months too. Both of them were basically cheap enough to be a total loss and not shed a tear.
I need to get back to that...I don't mind money tied up but I don't love it. Cheap and shouldn't be cool are my favorite.

I've basically just been playing with the house's money ever since paying off the Caddy...buy one, sell one, rinse repeat. 'Burban is the only thing with a payment and
I bought it used.
I don't have anything annoying like the need to maintain warranty because none of my cars have one.

@Slpr04UA6 and to your point...yes...
in 2013 when I was still enamored with my black TL my good friend loaned me his new S5 6MT and it ruined me.
It was and still is the best all around car I had ever driven. Nearly 400hp with a $1100 tune, relatively doable maintenance and only a
small handful of known failure points on that platform made me commit to learning more about it. It's not the best at anything but having
that solid feel, the B&O system...the way it handles, the way it's put together and how reasonably efficient it is (nearing 30 mpg still on road trips)
made it a platform that intrigued and continues to intrigue me. So much so that my grand plan to get the 6MT and sell off the DSG has fallen apart...
I enjoy them both so much and for different reasons. I love the color of the Volcano one, the DSG in manual mode is incredible, the 4 doors...S5 with
the panda interior, 6MT, wide hips...
they are the same car but just different enough to make me want to keep them both.
I basically just shifted my affinity for the 3G over to the B8.5

I confirmed how I felt with the TL-S buyback too...it was awesome but it felt like a chapter I closed and my past...I have days I regret selling it...I had a great
daily that was cheap to me and paid off and fully sorted with a new clutch...but alas, I was happy to sell it to an enthusiast that has apparently been
LOVING IT.

Maybe one day when he's ready for an upgrade I'll grab a flight and a road trip and bring her back home. Who knows. I'm old enough to never say never.

No, I called and cancelled it yesterday to pay for my new car.
Though Thea acting funny. Texted me tonight asking me how I’m going back to Oregon with no plates. That he has to return the plates back to Texas DMV, even though Texas DMV states that’s not true.

Something just began to smell like the KBP from Long Island.

Plate issue is yours to figure out, not his.
He obviously wouldn't leave the plate on the car, it's his.
You insure it as of the day you arrive. You get a bill of sale signed by both.
You could/should go to the TX dmv and register it to you but I think the real
burden is for you to register in your home state. I have also seen where you
go preemptively and get a temp tag ahead of time.

Personally when I went to OH to buy blue and when I sold it...I slapped another
plate I had on it and drove it like I stole did not steal it the whole way home.

I can get a trip permit for 3 or 20 days. But it is not required to bring return it to the dmv per the Texas dmv website.

I am positive there's some miscommunication between you two.
He probably thought you were asking to use his plate for the trip.

FWIW, I've never driven a car I have bought home with the OTHER person's plate...I always take my chances and slap mine on.
I had the false sense of security on my way back from Ohio by using the plate that came off my OTHER 3G so at least the plate
belongs on that model car

Lol, You’ve got some balls. I would be scared to use a plate that came off another car. Just get trip permit for $20.

There is an section on each states dmv website were you relinquish ownership of a vehicle and the plates are no ones after that point. Just still having that cars info valid on it. With a title and bill of sale the police will understand that it was sold recently. At the point of relinquishment, I have 30 days(or six months currently in oregon) to get plates in my home state.

Gift of gab? I bet you bat your eyelashes at them and their hearts sink.

We don’t have tolls where I live, so I naturally expected the same there. There will be numberous tolls coming back and Thea doesn’t want to have to incur them. So plate removable is understandable, it’s his choice regardless.

Going to put the 1998 Accord for sale today. Got it to 160k miles this morning. Got it at 124k miles two years ago.

Going to drive the MRP Type-S TL not put miles on Accord.

My M90 Base Auto is having issues with shifting into third from second at WOT. It shifts smooth and flawlessly up and down in every other gear.

I have changed the Oil pressure switches. During the first WOT after the engine is cooled it will shift to third. After the second it won’t. To over come this I have to not be at WOT but a little under that just before it shifts.

If it gets stuck I simply slow down and it shifts. This only happens in second gear on WOT. If I change the ATF the problem goes away for a few heat cycles but then returns. Could this be the upper and/or lower solenoid filters being dirty?

I will clean them this week and see.

webmd states that that is normal for a boosted automatic TL.

Interesting.
Take lots of pictures, I'd like to see how it all goes for you.

On the other hand, I just got done excising a separated, from the coil over plug, rubber boot stuck on the spark plug. Luckily, it was on the front head.
What a PIA that was.
Now I know to lube with a little dielectric grease, on the inner hollow that fits over the plug, to facilitate easier removal. Learn something new everyday.

Yes sir! I put dielectric grass on Every unplugged/removed electrical connection, one of the few good tips I got from Scotty Kilmer. I add a bit of copper anti seize to the plug threads and dielectric grease on the plug tops!

When I was working on Ilyas engine. All three of the rear valve cover oil plug shaft seals were ripped by the shop tech forcing them on instead of the needed careful finessing. Thought they were brand new, I had to install new ones again that Ilya provided. He had a check engine light due to misfiring because the coil over plug was flooded with oil coming from the ripped seals.

I found that when the coil-over-plug tip gets stuck on the plug top, I clean any grime/oil off the coil plug and stick it back onto the plug. Then with my hand I force the coil plug against one side of the plug tube which gives it more purchase. It usually works the first time and removes the rubber coil-over-plug piece. Giving you access to remove the plug.
