36mm intake valves

Anyone know if 36mm intake valves will fit without any valve piston impacts? I bought these valves I bought valves for my car and machine shop called and told me they are bigger then oem I didn't know that at the time but turns out their 36 and oem is 35

The piston/Valve clearance will be fine, the issue is having the Headwork completed to fit the larger Valves. You will need a machine shop(or P2R) drill out the valve seats and install inserts that then work as the new oversized valve seats. This application is most effective fro N/A builds.

J32 heads use 35mm valves. J35 and j37 use 36mm valves. The valve will hit the piston ever so slightly as the valve relief in the piston isn't large enough

I believe the only engine to use 36mm valves was a j32a2 but I could be mistaken with that but I'm pretty sure j35a3 uses 35mm intake valves too

As an update I was able to get a hold of Andy Gerzina and from what he said is that yes it would work and he knows because he blueprinted the engine, if anyone else has any further info to add or anything else to say feel free too, I'll be trying it out and hopefully he is right but we shall see

Got the new head installed and running with the 36mm valves, took it for a small drive and everything seemed to run good, got in vtec and all seemed good!

From my recollection, all J series of our years use 36mm intake and 32mm exhaust.

I was mistaken thinking you bought the enlarged 37mm valves from P2R. Those need machining.

ummm, i think you mean 30mm exh. this thread is all over the place. 37 mm int and 31mm exh need the enlarged seats. 35 & 36 share the same seat. 36 overlaps slightly.

To clarify further j32a3 uses a 35mm intake valve (maybe not exact) and what i had got was 36mm they were slightly bigger and the j32a2 used 36mm intake valves which used the same seat as the a3 despite being slightly larger, so no they do not need to be machined in order to fit as acura used the same seat for the both sized valves, the only question I had was the piston to valve clearance not how the valves fit in the head I was unaware if the pistons of the a2 had bigger valve pockets to accommodate for the slightly larger valves so sorry for the confusion 🤣

the j32a2 uses 36 and a3 (my series) uses 35, and yes that is correct they are the same seats but the a2 valve is slightly larger then a3

07-08 base models 3.2l use 35mm intake valves
