3.5l Type S calipers installed on a 3.2 base
Looking for some answers.....new to the Acurazine world but like what I see and read alot of posts and spend alot of time here.
The problem is my car has more go then stop! ( Might be the way I drive it...lol)
I have a 2008 Tl 3.2L base model, and I'm a rotor slayer....They are heating up and warping on me. I know the Type S model has an upgraded brake system larger rotors and calipers and want to know if the two systems are interchangeable?
Can I buy Type S calipers (From a local parts out car) and Install them on my base model. Is it as simple as swapping calipers and installing larger rotors, or do I need to change the caliper anchor plate etc....etc?
I have been looking at big brake systems, but not sure if that is the answer.
Big brake system-1200$ U.S.D. + shipping (Live North of the border)
TypeS calipers-400 C.A.N. and no shipping
Any advice would be good
Thanks EH!

you will need the arms off the type-s since the bolt patterns are different. Or you can do what most people do and get the RL brakes, get brackets made, and use 350z rotors.
the RL will probably set you back 600-700 bucks. depends on how much u can get the rotors for, how much paul charge for the brackets, pads and rotors.

What do you mean by "Get brackets made" for the RL route?
I would like to get the TypeS system, but I need to get the arms too?
Not to sure what part the "arms" is?
Are you referring to the part that the caliper bolts too, then this part bolts to the systems knuckle?
The Type-S calipers are from a scrapped car parting out and they want 400.00 bucks for the left and right side....
If so that makes sense because if the calipers are larger the brackets will be too, but will the brackets/arms bolt directly to the 3.2L stock factory knuckle left and right side?
If so maby I can get a package deal on the calipers and brackets

You need to buy the 3.5 type s knuckles also with the brakes. Looking at about another few hundred more. This has been discussed on here before.
Go to google and type in brembo brakes on base tl acurazine

I just purchased the RL swap. Much better than the brembo route IMO.
Here's the link. You will need to source your own calipers but here is everything else

Dudes; we have found out that using the RL brakes messes up braking bias BIG TIME.
this means you will stop LONGER.
Dont do the RL calipers.
Also the auto calipers stop SHORTER than the brembo calipers.
BBKs are ONLY for brake fade.
this means if you're tracking the car or doing MULTIPLE HIGH SPEED stops the brakes wont fade
p.s the manual transmission base models came with the brembo brakes.
this means you will stop LONGER.

I guess I will find out myself. The auto brakes suck though.. they get too hot too fast. Every time I'm getting off the interstate on the off ramp I have to get on and off the brakes because they will get hot and make the whole car shake.

do you have OEM brake pads? IF that the case its just your pads not the brakes. IF you want to do a simple upgrade. do the legend dual piston caliper upgrade with 12.6 rotors. This is a good upgrade if you don't want to worry about brake bias and what not.

Listen to Justin, you don't want RL calipers.
Your money would be much better spent on a BBK kit.
As for the auto calipers. Try better pads, better ss lines, and better fluids and see what you get.

Okay I'm back.
RL Caliper = four 43mm pistons (5808.8 mm sq). TL Brembo = two 42mm & two 38mm piston (5039 mm sq). That's 15.3% more hydraulic area. Even to an idiot it should be plain to see you are increasing the front bias SUBSTANTIALLY just by switching installing RL calipers. But then you throw a 13 inch rotor on top of that??!?!?!? Now you are into complete Retardsville. This setup will DRASTICALLY upset bias, thereby increasing your minimum braking distance (maximum brake effort), and may even wreak havoc on your ABS system. Just ask IHC about his bogus Rotora kit. This is a terrible way to spend money and ruin a great car.

I understand stopping distances has to do with tire grip, but I just find it hard to believe that the base tl 1 piston caliper has enough force to maximize tire grip in a high speed stop.

^^ Why? Without abs it would lock the tires, thus giving you more than enough power to stop.
Want to stop faster once, get tires. Want to stop faster back to back get better tires, rotors, pads and fluid.
