Sounds like the guy had done multiple auto -> manual swaps, all while using salvage manual trans parts. He was probably successful at doing so for many, and then his junkyard parts finally caught up to him.

Transmission housings break where the top mount bolts are. That was the same case (pun intended) with the TL trans I pulled 2 weeks ago in the junkyard. I'm willing to bet that he tried to cut off the portion of the damaged threads to hide the damage. This seems silly.

On my old, $60 H22 transmission, it had a wallowed out hole for the front, top trans mount. Either M10-1.25 or M12-1.25. I JB welded a stud that I made by chopping the head off a bolt and ran it that way for years lol.

Why didn't the guy just do something like that instead? I'm all about being dirt cheap and ghetto haha. But his method took to much time. I'd have just JB welded studs into that upper trans housing bolt.

Why didn't the buyer inspect his car before paying him for labor? It sucks that the shady mechanic was dishonest though.

Memory seats? I wish mine were fully manual!

I think that if someone didn't have a complete parts car to get a whole subframe off of, you can probably reuse the auto subframe and no lower tranny mount, BUT ONLY with some sturdy innovative mounts, not stock mount. since that lower tranny mount wouldn't work. from what I've researched between acurazine and the 7th gen accord v6 forums is that the only really annoying thing to deal with during the swap (besides all the electrical stuff) is getting that dang pedal installed without welding or removing the dash. even the clutch line has a nice direct line to the slave and can be substituted for something aftermarket easily, but installing that pedal is no joke.

looks really good, thanks for sharing. might do this with my 06 when the original tranny goes, and then after the life of a remanufactured av6/bdga... maybe have a built j32 at that point too

Ummm, you do realize this thread is about manual transmissions, right?

FWIW, regarding the automatic AV6, the manufacturing code is BAYA.

After you drilled out the spot welds of this bracket from your parts car so that you could install it in your auto car, how did you fasten it? Did you re-weld it? Or did you just use nut & bolts?
