My speed shop designed a cat-back exhaust system utilizing 3.5" piping from the catalytic converter to the back of the vehicle (retaining the factory exhaust tips). The owner asked me to assist him in determining if there is enough of a market to put these systems into production. Price point is around the $400 mark. This system replaces all of the factory mufflers and replaces them with aftermarket mufflers (I used magnaflow, the owner is willing to test out a couple of different ones to achieve the best sound).
The sound output is approzimately 10 db higher at idle and up to 15 db higher at redline than the stock system. Power output increased from the middle of the powerband to a total of 8 hp peak gain just before redline.
My question is, how many people would be interested in a similar setup? It comes complete and does not affect the factory warranty since it is a catback system.
