07 TL-S Performance Mods?

What performance mods are most recommended? I saw in one thread that the AEI CAI adds some performance (I didn't see any dyno numbers tho). But I'd like to know what other mods people are doing to their Type-S's (links would be helpful). I called Comptech and their guy says they are looking into designing a SC for the Type-S, but I'm sure it will be a long time and would run about $4-5k and doesn't seem worth it for only a 50hp increase.

I'm new to this community, so let me know if this is proper protocol, thanks.

Sorry, but 4-5K for a 50hp gain is about what it's going to cost.

Unlike a turbo car, a naturally aspirated car is MUCH harder to get HP gains out of, especially without going into the motor.

The S/C kit is far less complicated, than changing cams, or something along those lines. That, and the gains are VERY good.

That will be a good start. BTW the Comptech S/C netted about 65whp+ on most TL applications, which is about 80-85 crank hp so that is a pretty nice gain. And besides the whine is so intoxciating that the price tag becomes worth it.

I wouldnt go for the comptech exhaust but thats just me. I am halfway on the procats. The stock S cats are 600 density, the stock tl are 1200 adn pro e-cats are 200. So the S already has a clear advantage so the gains wouldnt be as high. Azlthough with more displacement there would be gains non the less.

How much money do you want to spend and what do you want to accomplish? I have spent about 6k so far on stuff for my S. AEM CAI, Comptech SS, aluminum shifter bushings, GM syncromesh tranny fluid, dynamax resonator, mid muffler delete, outlaw engineering intake spacers, UR underdrive crank pulley, Tein SS w/EDFC, 19" RJ's, navi converter. Check out a couple of the threads I have started to see pics of it all. you can email me if you got questions. tedurik@yahoo.com

How much HP gain can be expected from a Comptech SC on a 07 Type-S?

I contacted comptech about it but they said they did not have an 07 type-S to test yet. So who knows how long before an SC.. I still need time to pay for this car anyway!

someone here said the 04-06 SC should bolt on just fine to the 07 type-S. Who wants to try it out for us?

I gaurantee it will. the only difference on the 3.5 is internal. My only issue is with the added displacement and things here and there different I would think it would need a different mapping than the 3.2. Hey I tried 3 things out that no one knew would fit! I am just not about to take on a project like S/C until comptech gives me the thumbs up. When they do though.... I may go for it. ONLY if they find a way to remove top speed restricter though.

I figured it might just be internal. Seems the tuning might be different.

I think the Type-S engine is the same engine as the RL, but the RL is listed at a slightly higher HP number.

I'd love to see how much you get with an SC.

It is the same motor, from what I have read the difference is the exhaust. I heard somewhere the RL has true dual exhaust. Dont know for sure though.

I see. I actually don't see that many RL's in the road. Actually, I have not seen another type-S on the road yet, either!

Lemme know if/when you decide. I assume you will make a big post if you do so.
