05 base tl performance build help
Im trying to figure out away to build my tl to make a pritty good amount of power by building myself. Im having trouble finding parts. I would really like a good supercharger build but would also do a turbo but cant find a turbo and comptec is way expensive for what i see little power. Any tips would be very appreciated.
There are a few after market supercharger systems out there; they ain't cheap, and the dollar per horsepower gained isn't all that impressive. Turbocharger applications on cars with "V" style engines, especially transverse V engines are problematic regardless of the brand. Our TLs are no exception, turbocharging a 3G TL is both expensive and challenging in that pretty much every thing you do is going to be a custom job.
The sad truth is, if you are looking for a car to build relatively inexpensively, you're going to need to look further afield..

Couldn't tell you; I personally have a great dislike for virtually all modern supercharger installations, and as such, I don't research them. That said, if you use the Search function, there are several threads here which discuss such projects.
Supercharging. There is Gerzy Bear performance Rotrex superchargerkit and Comptech supercharger kit.
Let me clue you in on prices. I recently purchased the Gerzy Bear Performance Stage 3.5 kit. It has the potential to boost your car to 650WHP. $7500 shipped.
I currently have an automatic 3.2L base model 2008 with a Comptech supercharger. To get the Comptech Supercharger, misc parts needed and to do it right. It cost me about $10,000.
Expensive yes. was it worth it? Also yes. The sounds of the engine, exhaust, and supercharger make is a great thing to hear and feel.
Some here will tell you to look to a different platform if you want cheaper upgrades, RWD, Et Cetera. If you love the make and model, you will make it work.
The 3g is a beauty inside and out. It is hard working and forgiving. I love it to pieces

I have to agree with Saving4aTL.
I ended up SC'ing my '03 CLS6 with just the basic CT-E kit. However, that was after I first started with the Icebox intake ($250-year 2002), then I proceeded to the headers ($1000-year 2003) and just with those two mods the car came to life substantially, I was HOOKED. Next up was the CT-E S/C'er kit; autometer FP; boost gauges; A-pillar pod and lightweight pulley set ($6200 installed-year 2004). Next, to free-up more hp came the CT B-pipe ($300-year 2005). Found a set of hardly used CT-E axle back cans from a member here ($250-year 2008). Finally, XLR8 had a freer flowing cat for sale (IIRC'ly $300-year 2010ish). I plan to drive the wheels off this car because there is nothing out there with a manual 6 speed, in my price range, that 'stirs a desire' to get rid of this one. This thing is driven in scorching heat everyday in stop and go traffic and it executes with reliability and performance. The best money I spent on car mods, EVER.
