XM to SIRIUS
#7
^^ oh and how are you getting Sirius?
VIAS technology is supposed to release ".. in July"... (bit over due now) an XM to Sirius interface for Honda/Acura.. Directed (they make the Clifford/Viper/etc. alarms and the Sirius modules for Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood/etc.) is supposedly making one as well..
Here is the Directed one..

Per quote from poster: "Sirius told me it will be available the first week of September from Circuit City, Best Buy and one other place."

I have an S50 unit....... I just wanted to integrate it into the cars system because I only really listen to 4 channels. So looking at it to me isnt that important I tried to use an FM MOD. and see what the quality of the sound is like and it sucked....and the XM quality was really nice when i had it I just thought it would sound better integrated

The antenna will work fine. The problem is that the Honda connector is not a SMB connector like the after market receivers.
I Extended the antenna on my new Pilot to under the seat and through a custom coupler it is running my Eclipse Sirius radio and my XM Commander XM radio.
If you are not going to use the XM radio ever again the cleanest way would be to salvage the antenna connector. Then cut the cable from an antenna and solder it to the connector that was removed from the XM box.

glenn thanks.....thats what I was thinking i was just afraid of ruining the cable by splicing it....but since u said its ok im all for it..thanks....im still trying to find out whats with the box....I heard right now its only for the GM.............. honda another month

I suppose you could splice it if you are very careful. I put on a BNC male connector and a BNC female on the extension cable. Remember it is Coax and the shield needs to be pulled over the spliced center conductor to maintain a sembalance of the original cable. The active antenna is strongly amplified to over come the extreme loss of the tiny cable at 2 gig so there is a fudge factor.
Any connector with good high frequency performance could be used but I went with a connector that could be used with RG 59 since I used a modified Satellite splitter with F connectors for the dual coupler.
