XM Kicks out

I get the dreaded No Signal on my Nav display frequently, even in wide open areas. Its especially annoying when I'm trying to listen to Howard Stern and Robie the Limo Driver is in one of his poetry sessions. I know my car is an old man, but .........

Is there a way to tell if I need to replace the antenna or the XM unit?

I know if I scanned through stations in my 2008 TL it would display "----------------" or go "NO SIGNAL" or it would cut in and out in an annoying way only producing sound for maybe 1/4 of a sencend per 1 second, so like, "shwook, shwook, shwook" really annoying... I did not have nav and I could fix this by simply turning the radio off for a second then back on again!

Always wondered what was going on though...

It's not quite that bad, but still annoying.
