Went crossed eyed reading this lol. DatDereTL you need to do your research first. I know its hard to be patient with all this, but you need to be. Everything people tell you will be subjective. Like its been stated, you have TL but $300 wont get you anything worth while. Why? Because its going to sound so so and your going to want more...and more...lot of people do. So please please take you time and save your money...otherwise we might see you on here in a couple months wanting to do upgrades.

Personally i run 2 Boston Acoustics Pro Series 10.5's, BA Pro 6.5 all ran by my old yet trusty Soundstream Reference 705 which was recently tested and repaired by the engineer who originally designed them. FYI for anyone needing a Soundstream Ref series fixed.

im also running a 12" type r off a 600w amp in a custom sealed box by uncald4. before this set up, i had a 12" type r in the ported alpine box. it was a lot louder in the ported box, but i like the bass a lot more in the sealed box. sounds a lot tighter and cleaner.

thinking about going to a w6 soon tho. not to thread jack, but do you audio guys think this would be the right way to go if im looking for an even cleaner sound?

feel free to PM me OP about more detailed opinion about the type r. might have one for sale soon if i go the JL w6 route..

Pre-fab Kicker, Alpine, etc boxes = MASSIVE FAIL

The reason it sounded tighter in the sealed setup was because your box was tuned to 40+ hz. That's basically a SPL/competition tune frequency. Bass will sound boomy and muddy. About the W6, there are much better options for the price. Much better

Depends on your goal. What are you after? better sound quality? louder? both?

He could run the sub bridged on ch 3 & 4 and use 1 & 2 for his front stage

I've run two 12W6s for nearly 6 years in sealed, ported, bandpass, and now infinite baffle form. I have nothing but great things to say about them. I recently ordered two IB15s since I'm getting serious about going IB to get my trunk back but I'm sad to get rid of them. They dig deep, play up to 90hz while sounding great, have good detail, great transient response, and get fairly loud. I would use these again if I went back to an enclosure.

I'm going to have Rollin Sound install this for me...So should I tell them that?
Also, ported or sealed box? And how should they tune it?

Let me put it this way, if that shop doesn't know how to wire up a 4 channel for speakers and a sub...run away!

Well, that good buddy of mine with the 2 10" Alphasonik subs is willing to sell them to me for $60 (Including amp and wires.). I don't know about you guys, but $60 for all that is an awesome deal. I don't see why not, do you?

Lol at Eggy. Stop being shy, say what you really mean....

I finally got the Eggy stamp of approval but it took a set of $1,500 comps and a couple of 15s to do so.

Seriously though, he has some good advice....most of the time.

I know he does. I really appreciate him and everyone else that helped. I nearly got what he recommended... But then, I decided to try these out and just see how it goes. It's $60/can't go wrong. Hell, if I don't like how they sound... I'll bump them for a little while until I have some good cash for some nice Sundowns. Boom.

I agree. You can't go wrong for that price. Pay special attention to the enclosure and see how good you can make it sound. For what it's worth, you have a nicer system than I did at your age.

When I was his age everybody rolled 18" Vegas in 5.0s (the song was on the money). I had a bike, 2 jobs, a warm coat and gloves... oh, nostalgia.

This. I'm gonna have Rollin Sound install them, but thank you very much anyway!

OP check crutchfield outlet and scratch n dent off their main website... I buy almost everything off ebay brand new but crutchfield will do ANYTHING for you. A couple of yrs back I threw 2 type-s 's in the back went on a rd trip with luggage leaning up on em... they blew quick... sent them back with $50 and they sent 2 type R's back no questions asked. I know have a Type X from crutchfield its was only 240 I think.

Boxes are atleast as important as the sub/amps... for your needs recommend a smaller volume sealed box. Experiment with ski opening, firing position, gain, everything. Tuning makes so much difference.

I also bought a refurb 360.2 from ebay... worth every penny if your dont mind cutting stock wires.
