Working AUX adapter for 3rd gen!!! Need a tester in New Jersey -- PLEASE READ.

Hi all,

I've been talking back and forth with Autotoys who say they finally have a working AUX adapter for the 3rd gen TL. However, before they release it, they want to test it on a car. They are looking for a willing participant (you will have your dash taken apart) from New Jersey to test it.

If you are interested, please post to me in the forum, and I'll get you in touch with them.

Thanks!

Rob

i'm in central jersey, and if this provides for an easy way to hook up an mp3 player, i might be interested...
i have a non-navi head unit, and may be replacing it w/ navi soon.

That's exactly what it'll do. It gives you right and left RCA inputs direct to the head unit. Shall I tell them you're interested? You'd be willing to let them take apart your dash etc? If so, please pm me your contact info (address, phone number, name), and I'll get them to contact you.

OK I've emailed autotoys about mbwmn. If that doesn't work out, I'll keep you in mind rbf.

Here's hoping we're finally going to have an elegant AUX input solution.

rbf351,

It looks like mbwmn might not be able to make it. Would you be interested in having them test it on you? If so, please PM me, and I'll let you know what the arrangements are.

Yup, it'll keep everything you have already AND add an AUX port (accessible by pressing CD twice). Cool huh??

OK guys, this offer is still open. Is there anyone in New Jersey who would be interested to get this AUX adapter installed on their car. They will get a free AUX adapter (installed) as compensation.

You would keep the adapter yes, and it's very close to NYC, Hoboken, Newark area I believe. But I would put them in touch with you. If you're interested, PM me with your name, phone number, email and I'll get them to talk to you directly.

Not sure what it'll cost cuz it hasn't been released yet. The install isn't SIMPLE, but it isn't extremely hard. There might be a way to do it from behind the dash from the driver footwell area. I just took apart the whole center console...

unless you have small girlie hands it is almost impossible to get your hand in there and remove that white connector. it's possible, but very tight in there and will slice you up

In the Canadian TL with no XM, the port for that white connector is empty so it should be quite easy to install a new AUX unit.

I seriously think that Blitzsafe is outsourcing it(Made by another Company) hence the reason of their evasive answers.

I like you hope to get an answer ASAP! as I would like to enjoy all the quality (20Hz to 20,000Hz) that most MP3 players can provide on a direct connection as opposed to the low FM quality (50Hz to 15,000Hz) wheny ou are using some kind of transmitter.

And while the cassette adapter is better than FM, it still generates some noises.

Best regards from 30 miles north on Montreal

frenchnew,

Is your cell phone on Fido? Rogers? Mine is on Fido, but since Rogers bought them, it says "RM" on the HFL, and I don't get call display anymore... I have a Sony Ericsson Z600...

You in Sauveur? St-Jerome?

Where'd you get the 3M film installed? How much? I'm getting the RonJon body kit installed in Trois-Rivieres next week and I'm wondering if I should put the film on.

As an added note if you should get the paint protection film, it is the best protection you can have installed against the pitting of the front end from rocks, gravel and sand and with what they are sanding the Montreal streets with these days (Fine Crushed Gravel) this really pits the paint badly!

I had first hand experience last fall when my previous car, a 2003 Honda Odyssey on which I had the 3M film installed, was hit by a rock of about 1 inches in diameter. This happened on a 2 lane road and the oncoming Pickup truck just lifted that gravel and it hit the hood of my van while I was travelling at around 60 MPH (100 KM/H for Canadians). After I had the chance to stop to inspect the damages, there was a dent on the hood, the film was damaged a bit but the paint was in pristine condition so only a paintless dent repair was needed. So After this experience, I am a true believer of the product.

Best regards

Frenchnew

Is this the new adapter from Autotoys?

http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/HO...d_0_p_200.html

It says it'll work for a 04 TL.

Nope, that's actually the old one they were selling. It doesn't work right. I have it installed in my TL but it's a PAIN IN THE BUTT to make it work right. The firmware just isn't compatible with our head unit. That's why they are working on a new one... should be ready soon I hope!!

i just got off the phone with a very nice guy from blitzsafe. he told me that if you want the one that keeps the XM, they will be testing it in 2-3 weeks and should be out in about 1-2 weeks after that. they will be testing for both with navi and non-navi. they will be making two types: 1 with a 2.5mm output and one for the ipod (meaning that it connects to the bottom of the ipod so you can have it charge from the same wire).

ill give you guys an update when i hear from him in a few weeks.

I went over to Blitzsafe last week so they can test their unit on my car. So far so good. However that unit cuts off the XM audio flow. They also told me that they will be done with the unit that has the XM switcher in 3 weeks like what you said. They will be testing it on my car when they have a working prototype. I'll keep you guys posted.
