Wiring back up camera straight into navigation video feed?

Any assistance would be much appreciated. I have searched and searched to have not found the answer to my question. I have an 06 TL nav and would like to install my back up camera. The navigation unit does not work and i am not interested in paying alpine to repair it. I have already tried cleaning the lens twice to no avail. I understand that one could purchase and install a video converter module as in nav2go etc. Here is the question. Is there a direct video feed from the nav unit that i could splice into? I am willing to cut the wires and never use the nav. In regards to the nav2go, I would rather do a full nexus 7 install than pay the 200 for the nav2go. I dont need gps and all of the other stuff, so if anyone knows of a way i could just directly splice in i would appreciate the advise. Thank you

I honestly doubt it as you not only have to supply the feed to the screen but you also have to wire it so the backup camera turns on when put in R.

If you are willing to do the Nexus 7 conversion, i wish you luck because having a nexus 7 in dash is one thing but wiring a backup camera is another. You'd need some kind of transmitter and receiver, rewire climate control buttons, rewire steering wheel buttons. I mean there are many ways to do it, but all of them require serious electronic skills, soldering, rewiring, modification...a lot of work.

IMO, might as well get an android auto Pioneer car stereo and retrofit it into the TL. I believe they have RCA inputs so they are ready for a camera or 2. Plus, at the end of the line they come up to more or less the same price (if you don't already have a Nexus 7) of around 700$ including main unit, reverse gear video feed module and steering wheel control interface. Worth noting a lot less of a hassle.

If there's a will, there's a way.

The navigation screen gets signal from separate wires, Red, Green, and Blue.

You would need a RCA to RGB converter to hook up your reverse camera.

The RCA (composite) to RGB (component) converter processor, it's not as cheap as I thought it would be so I ditched the idea.

Thank you both for your responses. It seems that just getting the nav2go is the way to go then. I really only want the camera because my gf is horrible at backing up. So I will get power from the back up lights and run nav2go into the nav harness. Thanks again for your time

Have you considered backup sensors instead? If it's a question of a bad driver, i'm sure they can help a lot too. Problem with backup camera is I always found them lacking in some area, angle of sight, night vision, make sure its clean, also for a bad driver, it might make them used to not looking back when reversing and then they will be even worse when driving a car with no camera...as backup sensors are pretty much fool proof, you still have to make the effort of looking back and making sure you're good, but just in case you make a mistake, they will make sure you hit nothing. Their angle of operation is so much wider, and they are much less expensive to install, much easier to setup, and no need for fancy control modules, re-wiring, just drill a few holes in bumper, hook up to the reverse lights, pass the cable from back to front and hide the module somewhere you dont see it but you can hear it.

You can literally get a kit that just makes noise for 20$, add an extra 10$ and you have the radar that visually shows you how close you're getting and gives you a distance from obstacle.

Or maybe you can get her one of those rear view mirror replacement kit that has the LCD screen built into the mirror. Also not very expensive, about 70$ for wired kit and 120$ for wireless which basically just means you hook up to rear lights and when activated it sends feed by bluetooth to mirror.
