Alright im far from a newbie I have been from the 1st gen to the 3rd gen for a few years now but STILL cant seem to get this.

The simplest navi hack (the wallpaper) ! I had it done b4, but recently tried to change it and it went back to the stock image (the regular acura logo).

and a few more. I really dont know where the problem enlies so can someone/anyone help me out with this aged old question? I have a '04 TL, Orange Disc 3.30.

What makes it even worse I cant get my images to the correct size mine are 110 KB (113,398)
112 KB (114,688 bytes) when they are suppose to be 113,068 bytes.
I would love to have ALL the hacks that come with it but I am dying to just get my custom screen back "1st" So Please without all the flaming and go search and I cant believe u cant do this can u provide any help?

P.S. if someones in the Jer-z area im even willing to PAY..........yup im at that point!!

Nah u neva sent it i thought maybe it had slipped ur mind because u know u said u were busy with school and work. So i didnt wanna keep buggin' u ya know. But i have been tryin since then tho. If i remember, I right clicked the file, went to properties, advanced, and checked off compress contents to save disk space, and got with-in 2 bytes. Then I went to photoshop and changed it to 8 bit or to some other mode where it sized down to 108kb.

 

Let me 1st off by saying thanx (again) for even coming in to help me out (117 views and ur the ONLY one to reply)...

OK heres where I am, this was the original file (I changed it from the one u originally made for me)


I converted to grayscale and made it 480x234


for some strange reason this one actually is smaller in numbers after about a hundred times of doing the exact same thing its Size: 110 KB (112,918 bytes) & Size on Disk: 112 KB (114,688 bytes) (which when I do what u say it changes that size)

Ok so i got the sizes right but when i do the whole copy the 9 files from the navi dvd to ur harddrive (which my dvd doesnt have all those that were listed) i do all that follow the instructions to a "T" but when I put in my cd/dvd (that I burned) it immediately says "Please check your Disc" I still do the whole menu/map/cancel.....load disc. but it never loads anything just please check....etc.) but soon as i pop the original in it reads it and says dont turn off the engine. .

So im back at square one. Hey is there a time where u'll have like 10-15 min to walk me thru via aim, yahoo mess or anything cuz ill d/l it. and im sure it wouldnt take that long if I had help. because I know I tend to write alot and it can get tedious checking back and forth. So if possible let me know a time/day and ill be there. Thanx again heres another pic I wanted to use but didnt know which one looked better ( and I made it blk/wht on purpose )

 

PM'ed but if you don't get it, I'll most likely be on Azine around 4 or 5 PM tormorrow.

If the disk isn't loading, make sure you load all 9 or 10 BIN files onto the disk you make. One of them is the loader for the proper BIN file.

 

aight yea I'm checking again from my phone. Ill come on tomorrow at both times. Cause I'm already lost because I didn't have all those bin files on my navi disc just 6 bins and 3 others that were ADD.bin, zzz.bin, I can't remeber the 3rd one. But my loader was like B2NHH12C.bin and I had that one definately on there but no luck. But like I said ill try u 2morro cuz I dont wanna keep u up all nite. Hey I'm in jersey ur in fl. Right? So I think we're only a hour apart right?

 

Did you convert it to from 16 to 8 bit colors? I think you have to do that before resizing it. What program are you using to make the changes?

If you're screen went back to the default, then you loaded the right file, but you just didn't have your custom image in it.

As for FL, they're in the same time zone as Jersey.

 

If your getting this and you know you did everything right, it's your burner software. So far, looks like Nero, Windows Media Player and the indigenous Vista burning software are all culprits.

I downloaded 'Final Burner' from download.com for free. Worked 4.0!

BTW, if your BIN files load correctly you'll get a green dailogue box across the top of the screen with a series of about 15 open white boxes that slowly fill as it loads the new files.

 

blipszyc, yea I have it at 8bit um I finally got the pic right but just dont know how I did it incase I wanted to redo it LOL. I'm using a program called paint.net for windows (different from the regular paint that comes with windows). thanx for the tips!

Ned, yea ur right i am using vista! Ill try that program tomorrow and c how it works. Yea i pray to c the lil white blocks load up but only get it whe. I put back in the original disc. But ill make sure to use some of u guys' new tips tomorrow definately to c if that can get me out of my jam. Please come back thru and check on me!

Letha, I've seen in numerous posts in the Navi Hack thread that Vista will NOT work. This may be a large part of your problem getting files and/or a disc burned that will work.

I can't offer anything else as I've only worked with the v4.55/4.56 image hack, which I think is different than the instructions for your version.

No wonder! Now I know why I couldn't get the Navi Hack to work. Vista...

 

DAMN!!! Bearcat after all the reading and threads i was doing i must have overlooked ir eyes were strained from the 30 pgs and missed it. Damn and all this time im thinkin im just a lil slower than the average. Lol. Um lets c i have a xp desktop thats about good as a paperweight, but ill try it on her 2nite, and i had my laptop at work all ready to attempt this again. It's not that any program in the Vista OS won't work, just most of them...The Final Burner prog I used in Vista worked 1st cut.

Trust me, Leatha, if you're where I was at the time-pulling your friggin hair out because you knew you were following the destructions- this is your problem.

If you look around page 10 of the Navi Hack guide where I chimmed in with this recommendation, I remember clearing up a few other details of the process for the 3.XX discs concerning the .BIN mods.

OK heres where I am.............







IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! (6:40 p.m.) ok 1st ler me thank all u who took the time to enter,reply,offer advice and ur time and patience with me!! Heres what happened incase someone needs help or had the same problem(s) I did. It was as simple as NedShneebly said "VISTA" I d/l' ed the program he suggested "Final Burner" and copied (6) on my disc (3.30f) there were only 6 bin files copied those to hard drive used dumpnavi to modify the bmp. burned those (using the NEW program ofcourse) to a cd started car with Original dvd in hit menu/guide/cancel > version then put in my cd I made and hit Disc Load....Ned when I saw those bars I was as happy as a kid in a candy store because I knew that meant it was working! That was it!!!

My last thing is I made my image blk/wht to save space for the image because I didnt have photoshop it looks ok but if I can get it in color I'd be even better!

Thanx all u guys once again!! now as for the ok crack and trip computer...........Sike I wont even bother I hear thats worse...

P.s. Ned it only took so long because I just sat and read thru the ENTIRE 30 pgs of the original post! LOL. let me get some pics up for u guys gimme a sec.

Might as well do the Angry Dad hacks since you know what you're doing now. It's just cuting and pasting files like the bmp and I like the trip computer and nag button removal hacks better than the screenshot mod.

 

I would loooove to! I dred pressing ok every single time I get in! I'll start getting my read on b4 I attempt though. I'll try it this wknd. I also wanted to change the text IF I couldnt the the ok bypass.

You should post a few notes in the main hack thread in case someone there is having similar issues.

You must feel better - it wasn't you, it was the OS and now you've got it cracked.
