Whinning noise while using HFL
Whinning noise while using HFL
This has happened while linked with my HTC as well as my sliver L7. both times while on HFL while giving gas and on the phone at the same time the HFL projects a whinning noise. Almost sounds like a turbo spooling = X . Anyone else having this same problem?
Happens to my car too; but only when there is no call in progress. I think it is just an electrical grounding thing. Nothing to worry about. I kind of like it sometimes: it sounds kinda cool.
It doesn't bother me at all: i never have HFL active without noise except for the 5 seconds before or after i make a call.

I have the same thing happen to me as well. Plus, sometimes people say that they cannot hear me because I'm cutting out. Does anyone else have that problem?
The whining noise is caused by the alternator.
This can normally be proven by using some type of portable mp3 player hooked up to the aux input in the center console. Try it with and without the power adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter port in the center console. The difference is almost immediately apparent.
Now, if your cell phone isn't plugged into any kind of car charger, then any alternator feedback that you're getting is entering the system either where the bluetooth hfl adapter is grounded, or at the stereo. A ground loop isolator could fix it there.. if you could figure out how to wire it in.
As for audio cutting in and out, that could be a number of things. Poor reception, weak bluetooth radio on the cell phone, or wind noise from open windows, or the front vents, interfering with the microphone reception. I'm not sure how the HFL system works, but most speakerphones are voice-activated, so that they don't just transmit all ambient noise all the time.. If, when you talk, your voice varies enough in pitch or volume, you might not be keeping the mic active all the time..
To make matters worse, I never had any issues with people understanding me in my 07 TLS, but in my 08 TLS, people have been complaining about not being able to hear me well.
