Question What possible RMS power of our systems???

Looking for an educated guess on the rms power going to tweeters/center/full-range drivers. Dont give a rude answer because you may hate the stock system etc. I'm just curious for which infinity 6.5's i should purchase (Kappa or Reference) based on the rms power the ELS amp is pushing.

And just a reminder this is 3rd gen TL. 4th gens dont rub in your cars rms rating unless you have info on 3rd gens..lol.

If I remember correctly, the car sends 20 watts to all the speakers, 40 to the subwoofer. Not sure on the center channel though...

Did you buy slim driver or the normal set? I've heard the doors are a tight fit.

Keep in mind, those 20 watts are with the amp seeing a 2 ohm speaker (factory speakers are rated at 2 ohm). Put a 4 ohm speaker in there and it will only be about 10 watts going to the speaker. Unless you are trying to replace a bad speaker, you will be waisting your money if you think you will get better sound by only swapping speakers.

You should get the speakers that need the least amount of power. Even then I think that they will be underpowered by the stock amp. Also, the Infinity line makes 2 ohm speakers which will work better with the stock amp.

I did get regular set, slim ones dont go low like regular one goes for some reason. Kappas have better sound quality, and deeper bass, performs better in free air application. Installation was easy too. it took 30 min each side. It its almost direct fit, you will have to cut back off the plastic part, witch protects your speaker from water.

How about the rears? How hard was it considering the seats dont fold?

in rears i installed jbl 3-way speakers. installation was more complicated. had to drill additional holes in brackets provided with jbl spekers set.

You said that you were deciding which speaker to go with based on how much power the amp is putting out. What I was trying to get across was that it doesn't matter how much power the amp is putting out because it's going to be so low...just get the speaker that needs the least amount of power.

I had the 6.5" Kappas in the doors for a year or so. 2-ohm and efficient. They are a little louder than the stock speakers. I used the reference 2 ohm tweeters in the dash because Infinity and especially the Kappa line tend to have harsh tweets. The reference tweeters aren't quite as bad.

Not worth doing the rears unless you really like your rear passengers. For best sound quality, rears should only be there for fill and even with them up at higher volumes you just don't notice the better sound quality.

I do believe these are the best match for the stock amp out there.

I have to throw in there that while these were a very nice upgrade in sound quality and slightly louder than stock, it will still make a big difference in both SQ and obviously SPL going with an aftermarket amp.

I remember when u had yous. My goal is for added clarity. That it. Not looking to add amps in this car as I get rid of cars to warrant such an upgrade, M 08 accord navi i added Audio Control LC7 with amps and replaced speakers. 2100 dollars later an 8mo. I traded...lol. When I was a teenager I was all for that... I appreciate the system as a whole when im on freeway or commuting. Being a flight instructor, the noise of prop aircraft are doing enough to degrade me hear.

Would this be the best speaker? I remember going through your threads when I 1st got here that you enjoyed this off oem amp set-up.

Yes i was gonna do that (reference). I was wondering why thge other poster decided to pick up more expensive drivers when they wouldn't give any more added benefit to reference's? I had Reference components in my S2000 and they sounded goon even on the 40x2 stock deck but i added 100x2 amp and wow. Since i'm content with the powere of the ELS amp i'll feel fine with the added hi's and clearer mid-bass.

I replaced my tweets & center with the Infinity Reference. Added a 10" sub box on a cheapie amp and it sounds great. Adding the sub is what really rounded out the SQ for me. Looking at the Reference door speakers soon.

I plan on using dynamat in doors and the rear drivers (incl stock sub) and ill be done with audio. I'm leaving stock tweeters where they are and aim the reference 2-way drivers i put in the doors up to send highs to the front passengers. Whats your impression of what you did so far?

I felt the stock ELS unit was very good as it was. Lacking in bass response (for me), but still better than other stock systems I've heard.
I followed a bunch of threads (including IHC's) and decided on the Reference tweeters, which really brightened up the highs---almost too much. I'm glad I did not go with the Kappa's, as they would have been harsh.
What really woke up the system was the sub box. Its a 10" old school Pioneer sub in a home made box. I put an old Sony 60W amp I had in the basement and just LOC'ed it off the stock sub. It really sounds great now. I will be upgrading the amp soon, just to avoid damaging the sub from under-powering it.
I may put the Reference 6.5 shallow mounts in the doors, but not anytime soon. I'm pretty happy with it as it is.

Another member mentioned he went with the regulat ref. in front doors vs. shallow mount due to the fact that the shallow have a tad less bass response. Where did u set the tweeters at? 0 or +3db? Might wanna put them at 0 because ear level vs being low like the front doors.
