Just noticed this the other day. Channel 21(KISS) on XM does not show title and artist name anymore. Channel 20 (Top 20) just lost that feature today also. It shows up "XM Radio" on both title and artist now. Is XM being cheap or something? Why am I starting to lose the info on some of my channels?

 

Not sure, but it may have to do with those channels being programmed by Clear Channel. CC recently won an arbitration against XM which will soon require XM to start playing commercials on those stations. In response, XM has created their own equivalents to the CC stations (the one I know of is Channel 26 now plays the same type of stuff as "The Mix" on 22).

That's also the reason, XM's ads are now saying "The most commercial free music..." instead of "100% Commercial Free Music."

I've heard XM plans on moving those CC stations up the dial. They may also be removing track info as well.

 

I noticed this last night, too. I rarely listen to those channels, but I see they now have "CM" in the name, which I assume means "commercials." My theory is that XM is giving CC their commercial channels as required, but stripping them of the name feature just to make them less appealing to the listeners as a slap to CC.

 

Noticed that today too...I want my titles back!

Well while going out to lunch today, I noticed my titles on channel 20 (Top 20) are back. But channel 21 is still gone. Dunno why channel 20 is being turned on/off.

 

Try asking about it on the XM Fan forum, http://www.xmfan.com. I haven't posted there nor even visited in a really long time, but the guys there are very knowledgeable and will almost certainly know the answer.

I guess it might be true. Channel 11,21,22, and 24 are CC channels and XM might have taken the titles off just to piss em off...since they forced them to start playing commercials.

Supposedly its just an error that will be corrected soon....who knows...maybe its a marketing ploy to piss off listeners to those clearwater channels.

 

It would be pretty funny if they accidentally did it on purpose. I hate CC and wish they would rot in hell. Those weren't channels that I listened to to begin with and I never will now that they are playing commercials. That's the main reason I subscribed.

I'm not as annoyed if we lost the titles because XM is trying to make a statement. Sometimes you just need to stand up for what you think is right.

 

Wait you guys get channel 21?

I dont get some of the channels is this normal?? For example, I get channel 20 but when i try to go to the next channel I get channel 23. Is this normal...this happens for other channels as well.

You probably have the search feature on. XM can have a feature where its set to categories, for example. When you hit next station , it goes to the next category station. You can change the search feature and the way it goes from one station to another. Or you can use the right turn dial to change the channel. Turning that will change the channel by increments of 1.

Also, you will be receiving my bill...cuz I just diagnosed your problem and just gave you like 75 more channels to listen to...

Titles should be back. My roady on my truck did this for about a week and has finally returned to normal.

 

Here is the real answer! Last week a friend was having the same problem and we called XM. His radio needed to be reflashed and so does yours.

Just call XM and get it hooked up. All of your missing channels will be restored within a few hours.

 

I have had XM for 4 years now. Every once in awhile Kiss XM and Top 20 have an issue with there titles. If you pay attention closely it happens at some point everyday. Example: This morning I was listening to Kiss and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dani California appeared in my disply however it was playing "Unfaithful" by Christina Milian

 

WHY THE FUCK is CC making XM have commercials? That's why I hate public radio. That's why I'm starting to hate XM comedy. I fucking HATE commercials.
