hey guys,

i recieved a call last night and i answered it, and after that it just frooze. Now it says IN USE. I've turned off/on the car several times, I even deleted HFL from my moto e398 and then i tried to pair it again and it wont cuz the MID still says IN USE.

What should I do? Disconnect and then connect the battery again?

 

Like I told you, disconnect the battery and try it again.

I had the same problem - in the end the HFL was FUBAR and the dealer had to replace it. It took 10 days for the replacement part to come in. The really frustrating part was that it would mute the entertainment system and the only was to get the system to come back was to turn the car off and wait for a bit before restarting.

 

@least urs started working after restarting, but mine didnt, i had to disconnect the battery.

 

Jatt, disconnect the battery? Car or Phone? If car, did you put all the codes for Radio and Nav back in? How easy this is?

 

the car.... i disconnected the negative and put it right back together.... and i was surprised that it didnt ask for any codes....

Ok, i too have a E398 and i cant seem to link mine to my TL. My voice recognition doesnt even work. Everytime i try to say "phone set up" it confuses what i'm saying and does either "cd change" or "AM 690". And i dont have an accent nor am i speaking unclearly... is there any other way to do the bluetooth set up? Or do i have to attend speach theropy?

 

no man, u dont use the voice command button, u use HFL button, its right above voice command, and u say PAIR and then u will have to turn on the bluetooth on ur e398, dont do it temp. on, go to MENU > SETTINGS > CONNECTION > BLUETOOTH LINK > SETUP > AND POWER: ON, then it will search for HFL and go from there.

i didnt even use manual to pair this phone. it was easy to pair.... if u have more questions, just let me know....

Ok, i just tried what you said... maybe i'm a coplete idiot, but from what the directions say in the TL book, it says to hit the "TALK" button after the beep, say "PHONE SETUP". well, thats the voice command button i would have to hit for that beep to occur, correct? Or am i suppose to use that other button that doesnt beep after i hit it? im so confused!

u should see four buttons right, use top 2 buttons , those are HFL.

 

what the heck!? 10 bucks! damn, u where did you pick that up? Ok, so let me get this right, i'll use that top button (that doesnt beep after i hit it), do i hold it down while i say "PAIR", or do i just hit it and release then say "PAIR"? and will it promp me for a 4 digit password?

 

yeah... do that... hit that button and wait 2-3 seconds, and then say PAIR and then it should ask for ur password but u should put that password in ur e398 first

 

well i bought another e398 for my friend from some guy on ebay and he said he can give me 128 instead of 64 for 10 bucks and i was like hell yeah do that, so i'm gonna give my friend old 64 mb and keep 128

 

Cool, i'll do that as soon as i transfer my MP3's. Man, it takes forever to tranfer using that usb cable!

damn it!!! i tried exactly what you said, i turned on my key to accessory II, then i hit the "HFL TALK" button, and i said "pair". it never asked for a password... it didnt say a damn thing! LOL, i hate this... usually i can figure this stuff out. now its bugging me, i now know what it feels like to be my fiance... LOL!!! ok, one more time:
1. turn key to accessory II
2. hit HFL TALK button and say "pair"
3. wait for it to ask me for password... (at this time do i need my cell phone bluetooth searching?)

Do what the manual says. Hit the HFL Talk button and then say "phone setup". It will read a list of options, one of which will be setup.

well, i finally took my car in for the 2nd service and asked the guy what i was doing wrong... I thought i was a complete idiot, until he said that it wasn't working. When he was showing me what to do, (exactly what you told me what to do) but he said its broken for some reason and he'll have to have one of the guys work on it today. I guess he said its because the sales guys when they try selling the new cars they show off the hands free with their own cell phones and if they forget to pull the fuse it still has that in the memory and when theyhang up thier phone using their phone, not the HFL button it messes up the handsfree system. I hope they fix it!
