Phone List Recognition

I seem to have problems asking for the car to call certian people. It always mixes it up. Does anyone have any tips or may there be a problem with my system. All help is much appreciated and points are always given in return. Thanks.

Rets,
I basically just listed it as Tom, Bob, Ed, or so on. Do you think I should give everyone longer names.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I can hear your accent all the way from over here. I would suggest using longer names. When I brought my K700i to the Acura dealer, the guy said to use "John home" or "John Hwang" to call my friend and I could see how the voice recognition program would need to pick up more than just one syllable.

I agree with mobilezen, the longer name with diversity combination would be helpful. IMO.

as a matter of fact, the system will suggest that you use longer names so it doesnt confuse your phonebook entries with other HFL commands and/or numbers.

By the time the mic is picking up the fact that you're saying something you're done .... more syllables gives it a better chance to hang on to something useful.

I had to change "house" to "the house" for example. Longer names are definitely better.

Another tip while dialing: To improve name recognition (after you've successfully entered a name in the TL's Phone Book), press the HFL command button and say "Dial" first. Wait for the HFL to respond back, then press the HFL command button with the person's name.

This will get you further down into the HFL menu system, where the HFL is waiting specifically for a number or name instead of "anything goes".
